Bike fondling

Post by Zedz »

Last saturday I was in Parramatta having a coffee. Id parked my black z1000 on church street near some other bikes at a pedestrian crossing. When I returned to my bike someone had left a sticker for this forum tucked into my pillion seat. This triggered some kind of deepseated conflictual dilemma within me so I though I'd ask other riders what they think;

I don't like anyone touching my bike, especially when im not around. I've had two bikes stolen and as a consequence I suffer PTSD related trust issues in regard to my bike's safety, lol. The thought of people touching my bike shits me beyond description. However, obviously the individual was being very friendly and welcoming in regards this kwaka forum and i truely appreciate the thought and am glad they did so. And riders have to stick together, a community of riders gives me confidence in a cage'd world. But i still cant get the notion out of my head that i wanna kill anyone who touches my bike when im absent. I realise im being ridiculous, just wanted to know if anyone else experiences conflictual feelings like this. And what is acceptable if leaving a msg for a fellow rider who isn't around. I imagine id do the same, how hypocritical of me. Given that im putting far too much thought into to this, if someone is going to touch my bike id rather that they touch the dash than the bodywork. What are others thoughts.

Anyhow, whoever it was cheers i hope i can buy you a drink sometime as i never seen this forum before, im just woondering if others get paranoid and over-protective/over-reactive about unknown people touching their bikes.

Welcome aboard.

I think we're all over protective of our rides, so keep ya grubby mits of my shiney paintwork  I tend to leave the stickers under the key flap on the fuel cap. To me that seems the least offensive palce to put it, and required almost no physical contact. Enjoy here.

G'day and welcome mate.

Your right to be protective, getting tagged by a great bunch like this though is cool. It's a good bunch of people. See you on the 30th hopefully

Enjoy.

I thought this was going to be about what we do to our bikes after an afternoon of rubbing and polishing, with lots of sudsy water splashing all over the place and....ummmm....maybe not

Welcome Welcome.

I must admit, i get fairly miffed if i find out someone has been touching my bike. Especially after i have polished it and they put fuggen hand prints on it, especially the tank   (its so shiney and there always some handsome riders reflection in it  ). Also, its a safety thing, if i've parked it somewhere, and maybe the surface isnt ideal, and little johnny is trying to climb on (yes ive seen it hapen, didnt realise kids flew that well) and for some reason the bike moves, there could be all sorts of probs.

But as for a fellow rider "tagging" or "carding" my bike, as long as they dont stick the sticker on, i don't mind at all. In fact thats how i became aware of the site, stickered at a track day, and now that ive met a few more members, i might just come for a ride.

l rode my bike to work the other day (baker in a supermarket). l've never had a problem starting my bike, but this day it wouldnt start straight up. My only conclusion can be little shits turning the throttle, if l had seen this, there would be flying kids around my bike too.

I think it's rude to put flyers, stickers, business cards ANYTHING on a car OR bike.

There is a lady near us who does it, i go nuts at her, and bag her and her business anytime i get. :)

I don't go sticking business cards in her arse crack!!!!!!!

I just worry about my bike getting knocked over... :(

As for tagging, always under the fuel cap flap for me... Easily spottable by the owner and no visible fingerprints or marks leftover. 8)

I tagged a ZX2 at bikebiz the other day... Why hasn't he/she joined yet.

I don't think it's rude to walk up to people and hand them out.
Or to give one to them if there sitting on their bike etc

Hi Zedz

Mate sorry if I upset you. I was reeaally careful, thats why I slip it under the pillion seat so I don't actually have to touch the bike. I was parked next to you on the black zx7r.

Mate its pretty safe parking your bike there especially if there are other bikes there, we can see them from the cafe we are at and we keep a constant eye on not just ours but any bike there, kindda like community watch.

Once again sorry mate, but welcome to the forum anyway.

Regards

Frank

when i was at the gp i dunno how many times ive seen ppl admire a bike, but the only ppl who try to touch em are those who arent bikers ...i even had sum1 move my bike so they could get theirs out, then put it back in nicely...key still in the igniotion (long story-short version is im an idiot)
