I checked out a 94 ZZR250 today for a client who wanted me to look at it before they purchase it. What I found really strange about the bike was how much the whole front fairing and mirrors vibrated as I rode along- man it shook like buggery. Is this normal ZZR250 behaviour?
Long time since I rode one. I have ridden two 98/99 GPX250s recently and they didn't have this problem. The whole front fairing had been replaced on the bike as the rear was very weathered and the front like new- it was a factory plastic fairing (not fibreglass) so I guess something must have been loose in the mounts? Anyone else experienced this with a ZZR250? TIA!

Not normal at all, my guess is the same as yours.
The front fairing is held up by the same 2 screws the hold the mirrors.

Front fairing has two studs that are fastened to the sub-frame (i guess it's part of the sub-frame? or some thing like that) and also connected via 6 bolts to the two front side fairings.
If it's shaking like crazy then it's (or the other fairings) are probably not secured properly.
Yeah I think this bike had been in several prangs- lotsa cosmetic damage both sides AND the front wheel while visibly unbuckled (I checked) had some kerb rash on the LHS- maybe it was outta whack- might very well have caused the vibe- the front brake disc was warped too as well as just legal thickness wise. ( I miked it.) Advised the client against this one. Thanks for the replies!

My ZZR250, which-has-never-been-dropped-touch-wood, does rattle a little on fast corrugations (eg riding at 50km/h on crap suburban roads with lots of undulations and potholes) but apart from that there's no rattles.
The noise I do hear seems to happen when plastic panel that fits between the instrument panel and the outer fairing hiding all the wiring going into the instrument panel (which the GPX250 doesn't have) starts to visibly vibrate on those rough roads.
