Apprentiship/ Traineeship Advice

My money is great.

I don't have to look at the same 4 walls of an office every frikken day.

I get to ride a bike for a living and it's my daily transport to and from work.

Every day is different.

The comradeship in "the job" is like nothing you'll experience anywhere else.

I love shift work and you get used to not having every weekend off.

The job security is great and it's good to know that if you get sick of the section you work in, if there's something else you think you might be good at, you can do a couple of courses paid for by the department and try something else.

Having said all that:
You need to be prepared to deal with dead bodies.
You need to be prepared to have to fix other peoples petty problems.
Shift work isn't for everyone.
You can probably earn more cash looking at a computer screen for 8 hours a day.

I am after a bit of advice, If a start a 2yr Apprentiship or a traineeship and after a year or 18 months decide that it is not what I wih to do anymore. I am I allowed to quit.

One thing, how old are you? They do look at life experience. If you are still a youngin then I wouldnt bother even applying as you will proly get knocked back. Having said that, if you have had life experience...then go for it...would be a blast.

Anyway young guys & girls do get (I am 19 by the way, but the way I am planning it is. Apply end of the year, SElection process for 4 to 6 months May to June = Academy entrance + 5 months at Acadmey = on the street 20 & 3/4) in. I spend just about every minute on http://www.upholdtheright.com. The reason why many didn't get in for a while was, the brass were focussing on the older ethnic minority.

But it no has been found out that, they need young constables to slowly move their way though to become Brass. An example Mr X joins at 42yrs and maybe retires at 55, If he stays in GD Uniform he may be a Snr Sgt.

While Mr Y joins at 20 1/2, retires at 55 as well = 35 yrs in the job and if he or she plays their cards right and want to climb the ladder = Inspector at least or above.
