Headlight covers...

Post by Stereo »

Has anyone bought headlight covers before?

Are they legal? they sell them at Aus streetfighters....

http://www.austreetfighter.com.au/scart/html/178.html

I saw some on a CBR the other day and they looked great..... But are they legal?

If anyone at KSRC has them specially in Kawasaki green, on a green bike can they post a pic?

Clear protectors are fine and protect the light
go and price a new light for ya bike
the $40-$50 for a protector is worth it

tinted or painted protectors are not legal anywhere n Oz
...except the track
and if plod see you, in Vic at least you will cop a canary*
plus a fine ...and then the hassle of getting a roadworthy for the bike

* yellow unroadworthy vehicle sticker
and is removable only at Police stations on presentation
of RWC

note on that site the ad goes....
*Please be aware that a clear headlight cover is the only finish that is legal for road use.
All other finishes are illegal and are for show purposes or off road use only*

and the protectors on that site are....EXPENSIVE
$99 for the 12r..where as I paid $52 for the Ventura one

hth

cheers
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

Ive had the Hard perspex/polycarbonate one on Tiggr it broke (which means it did it's job) also seen others break so I chased up a better alternative. Its Clear 1.3mm adhesive plastic film (designed for the 4x4 industry) I cut it to shape and sell it for around $35 for a zx9r Tripple light model.
I have some arriving this week. If your intersted Stereo drop me a pm.
Cheers Brett

Have fitted this product to the 12, very neat and tidy. Only tip i give is dont stretch it as you stick it down, otherwise it ends up overhanging the light..

especially the pilot's !!!! :x :x "Would Sir like some tassels with that instant lifestyle?"..

Best headlight protector on the market ??

*LightSkinz*

$30 for 2 flexible sheets of clear 1.6mm polycarbonate film. First accessory bought for my 12. There is enough material included to do 2 bikes with twin headlights (just). Great stuff, as Blue12 says, don't stretch it - take your time with the template, and just follow the instructions.

Highly Recommended - I think I'll give this one 4 stars Margaret !!

I've had the same lightskinz cover on for over 7 years now. There is a slight bubbling directly infront of the globes, but nothing to worry about.

(Just take a bit more care making the template than what I did :))

Fit it them Trim ... thats the go  For a perfect job Take the headlight out Fit the film then Trim it to the edge. You wont even be able to tell it has a skin over it. the stuff i get inst "lightskins" but a derivative of it designed for the offroad Racing Vehiocles in the US.
Cheers Brett

Just Remembered the "RAdector" pic of Kev's Missus 05 ZX6R has "LITectors" as well ....look closely boys n girls .... Thats not a remove light & trim job either just a fit & trim jobbie.

Don't know what you 're all fussed about. I do stupid Ks every week, more than half of it on freeways the rest in town - never had an issue with no protector. And that's not just with the 43,000+ Ks on my present bike, but the stupid distances I commuted in London. Might be worth it is you're doing a track day and and haven't got race glass tho.
