Yeah I like Kawasakis.

Yeh i was going to go up there with neilp but i havnt heard from him in a couple of weeks if he is still going, i was going to take my stock fender with me
under one arm.
I dont know what they are going to present but any education that doesnt involve booking me would be good or maybe they will just spray me with pepper spray on entry.
If you get around the forums these days theres all sorts of crptic posts about where the rides are going, its a sign of the times and the message i sort of get is if you own a sportsbike in this part of the world leave it at home or we will book you(fender eliminater/can/noise/ we are not sure what a steering damper is but heres a slip of paper to go to transport dept to have it checked out).
The old guzzi in the buy and sell was looking rather attractive.

If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Good to see the Qld Government open up the First Aid cupboard ....
Thats the biggest Band Aid i've seen in a long time. Too think Beattie has been holding out those type of resources from the Health Budget.
WHAT A HUGE STEAMING CROCK OF SHIT !.
If nothing else it'll help the "Boys in Blue" recognise those who consider themselves "Weekend Mountain road riders."
They have the solution Blitz & Harrass alledged Ambulance Fillings.
Not fair but it will work in the end, when no one has a licence left because there "shortened Mudflap is a lethal weapon.".
I think i'll wait for the Federal Government buy back scheme before I Surrender my Licence in for my own safety.
Rant over & i still wont ride Glorious or Mee. Policemens there or not.
Cheers Brett

Nah mate. My neighbour is a cop who has promised me a play with his radar gun- going to calibrate my speedos...(that sounds sus, huh)
I wonder though if the public is busy using all the radar guns, could the mountain be safer......for the motorcyclists licence????

It's normal to see most ppl having a go at the cops when this kind of event arises.
Now I've got a question.
What do you wish/want the cops to do?
I believe if we can come up with constructive suggestions, it'll make the riding community a more comfotable place to live in.
There is nothing wrong with us hiding behind the computer and have a go at the cops, but that will make us no different from any other forums.
Have a think about that.
Peace out.

It makes a lot of sense to have motorcyclists represented at the function as it makes good pr to show interest and also may just remove many stereotypes from both sides.
I am involved in a road safety initiative in NSW and by mixing with and talking to the Police it removed many misunderstandings and now both the bike community and police of the area are part of a larger group working towards resolving many similar issues that you face on this road.
Better to indicate to teh Police that the motorcycling community is willing to work with them to reduce carnage than find yourselves in a similar situation to the Old Pacific Highway in NSW where without consultation the speed limit has been lowered and a major increase in police presence (if that was possible on that road).
Good PR on both sides will go a long way to earning respect.

I dont' mean to be cynical.. but I'm a cynic so bear with me.
At the end of the day they're not interested in directly affecting the road toll, as Bretto said they're more interested in fucking every poor bastard over for the crime of having an interest in life, to the point that noone is game to go out any more.
These things are little more than pointless publicity stunts whereby we are told how ignorant we are etc, etc, etc and how we're going to self destruct at any moment.
Over it.

As matter of fact I have offered my help to the Police at Mt Glorious- both of the officers responsible either are not riders, or have owned a Harley many years ago, so their experience in fixing a safety problem is limited to enforcement, which I guess is what Police are paid to do. I have had a brief meeting with the head honcho, and we had some common ground in opinion. I can't divulge what we talked about, but it isn't all bad from where they are coming from. They also have pressure from the Premier on this issue too.
I have two points of view in the issues up there- one as a motorcycle instructor, and two as an avid motorcyclist for the last fifteen years. So far I have been invited to be a member of the Mt Nebo safety council, but have not been invited to any meetings. I think there needs to be some collaborative work done, and road rules that reflect the differences in motorcycles to other vehicles......
