yep..i always do the thumbs up thing, and if i got time (not in a hurry to get to work or sumthin) ill stop...worst thing abt sitting abt waiting for sum1 to come get u..is boredom..at least see if u can or cant help..and if not, have a chin wag to keep him amused..also u had a good chance to tag!!

We were heading down the Bruce H'way on the FZ1, ran over a nail and had an immediate tyre blow out about 12kms north of Moby Vics. The mobile phone was out of service area (thanks to Vodaphone ) so Jeff decided to walk about 2kms back to the emergency phone, while I stayed with the bike. It was a great feeling to see that almost every biker & bikie stopped to see if I & the bike was ok and if there was anything they could do.

Geez rossi up the local hills if your sitting by the side of the road with ya helmet your bike went over the cliff but your safe.

Dont laugh i have seen it happen a few times and if enough riders stop you have formed a recovery team.

Good stuff lantana its like spiders web and stops the bike sliding too far into the jungle.

Should give them a nod at least.

Since you're asking..I think it was wrong to carry on, especially the second time.

Isn't there some other thread here about a guy being knocked down and people walking around him without helping and lots of OMG? Degrees of the same thing for my 2c. These are the little things that help shape the community in which you live.

I had this same situation not 3 weeks ago and besides the (granted) righteous view above it was a real buz to actually get the thing running and see the relief of the ex-stranded.

I believe if your in trouble you put ya lid on the ground by the front wheel, it's the universal sign of breakdown... Not that the young riders would know that one though.

Stereo, you're not a bastard, though he may not have had a mobile either and was waiting for someone to stop who either had one, or didn't mind phoning someone on his behalf for help once they got home to a phone! That's the point, you don't know if he needs help or not unless you offer or stop.

But just so you know for next time, stopping, or at least giving the "are you ok?" signal is very much appreciated:

Even if you don't actually do anything, the person on the side of the road has some company. Or, if they already have help on the way, they won't feel so stranded since people are offering the help and they know it's there if needed. Riders help riders.
