Z900 - Z1000 Old Fogey's Thread
Thanks for the background and I take most of your points without argy.. kinda hard to ask in advance though cause it would have to go something like "gee that's nothing like nature intended what is the background to such a misguided enginerring feat". Guessing, but this probably has the same effect as my original approach.
Other major exception is that my stance has nothing to do with income or obsolesence or whatever its about classical integrity.. this guy has spent enough on this bike to produce a 100% original true to the creed drop dead gorgeous restoration.
Instead he has opened the roof, let the lightning in and brought life to ....this.
In my opinion it's kinda like fitting a jrt turbine and retractable landing gear to a tiger moth. (and then going for red velvet
)
But it is just my opinon.

Just one more law and everyone will be safe.

Damn guys I was born in 1961 and remember 1% grous coming to the house riding up on 900 and 1000's, I was awe struck at the sight and sounds of these machines as a kid, that is where my love affair started with Kwaka's, damn but they are gorgeous machines of a glorious past from oz's true biking heritage, harley's weren't even considered back then, everyone wanted one of those 2 models not a harley.
Thanks
Les
Thanks

there comes a point when motor output exceeds frame, suspension, & braking of standard, the thing is pushing out 179rwhp & 118 foot pouds torque, then ya got 60 hp of happy gas to play with as well. Now thats the same sorta grunt as a current zx10....& the current 10 sure ain't got a tube steel frame like an old Z1000...improvements had to be made, & in the 80's single shock swingarms were the go, their still popular today even.balanse wrote: ".... misguided enginerring feat". .. this guy has spent enough on this bike to produce a 100% original true to the creed drop dead gorgeous restoration.
As for the gorgeous resto', thats on the other side of the shed, & red velvet was the dux nuts back then too (people took bad shit & done weird things in the 70's & early 80's man.) Did you not ever own or see inside a Sandman panelvan....sheesh c'mon
