Nice one. Pity they didn't have the PMB colour in '03 when I bought mine. Looks like Elvis has been taking pot shots at your fairing though....

They look like OEM pipes to me with the black link pipe and end cap.
Just very very shinily polished :D

[edit] after having a look at bikepics.com either no one keeps the OEM pipes, or i have no friggin idea what they are[/edit]

Pipes

Post by briffa »

alright then thanks for the encouragement and yeah the neighbour hood is very rough in my parts (dodging bullets etc).

I a part owner in an exhaust shop.
I made these pipes myself because I was to tight to spend the hundreds of dollars on bought ones
In total the pipes cost me $80 in parts and my time.
They are straight through pipes / no cats and boy do they sound good, they let the old girl breathe alot better.

The body of the pipes are 4 inch aluminium polished so the heat isn't in the pipes like the originals.

They fail the noise polution test by about 10 dbs (107dbs at 7000rpm)
legal is around 97dbs with a little more packing it brings the noise down but still maitains the deep sound.

Bonster if you are interseted, a set could be fabricated quite inexpensive that just slip on in a few minutes.
the only down side is that they pop on deacceleration.
Maybe one day we will meet and you can hear them in person.
Cheers
Paul

pipe for a 10

Post by briffa »

I think we could look at that..

TMO82
Just send me a PM and we can start something rolling.
Make sure you tell me what you are looking for (race pipe or street legal with some sound)
I am not in it for the cash just to basically get something I want raher than what someone else wants me to have.
cheers

I'm right for pipes thanks, Briffa- got Staintunes. Like your work though. I might be in Canberra in May- got a mate who lives there and we both go to a rally near Tenterfield each year- I rode to Canberra last year for both of us to ride up. Will look you up if I'm down there. :D

I agree

Post by briffa »

yeah the popping sound does sound nice and turns heads, just that some people think it makes the bike sound cheap.
My missus hates the pipes as the house shakes and the neighbours complain which is the best part.
I had a cop stop me once just to tell me that the pipes were illegal but sounded awsome.
Just tested my bike for DB's and it ran at 128db around 5 g's that some noise.
Cheers
