05 ZX6R popping out of second

Post by swabio-ACT »

Hey there ppl,

on the way into work this morning, 2nd gear started popping out into neutral @ 10k rpm.

It does not matter whether I am accelerating hard or slowly as soon as it hits 10k out it pops. It Goes into second fine and all other gears appear to be operating as normal. Any suggestions ? ? ?

My bike only has 13k km on it and just got serviced last week.

Mate that makes me nervous........took mine to the shop today for a mystery noise.........but no issue like you have with second........I get some false nuetrals just before oil is due to be changed but thats all.

Do you clutch cahnge???....I only use the clutch to stop and start...no issues so far

Yeh get it into the shop and get them to test ride it quick my 04 has been fine but i dont pop wheelies and always use the clutch but do do trackdays.

I am pretty particuler about shut down revs pull in clutch change wait for it and then relaese clutch but i know some people recon its ok to ride them like its a 125 chookchaser no disrespect intended.

Once again i say search kawiforums if its a 6r and you can get a idea of what might be going on but i would get a mechanic at a dealers to ride it and make them aware there is a problem and admit yes infact it does do this before changing the oil and cutting up the filter looking for a problem.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

yeah i clutch change pretty much 100% of the time, especially between 1 & 2.

I did a bit of a search on KawiForums, to no avail (Prob me being crap @ searching!)

I will be taking it in tomorrow. I would imagine anything will be covered under warranty. Oh well, I'll check it out tomorrow i s'pose :(

well took it in today, and wont be getting it back for quite some time......4-7 weeks they reckon, as they believe that it is the dogs or something in the gearbox that are rooted.

anyway it will be covered under warranty.... again great service from the team @ canberra motorcycle centre.

That really sucks mate. I've been through gearbox problems with my old 9, so I know what a horrible feeling it is when it happens, but at least yours is covered under warranty.

The only plus I had was that a mate was going overseas and let me use his ZZR1200 while the 9 was off the road...I didn't get withdrawls too badly, but I bet you do

I think that if fixing your bike is such a low priority for them, or parts supply is so poor, then it is only reasonable for you to expect them to extend your warranty for 4-7 weeks too. A loan bike at their expense wouldn't hurt either......

yeah I am not overly happy with it, but they are relying on Kwaka JP to ship the parts over on backorder :(

Precisely why i bought a dynojet kit as opposed to waiting for 3 weeks for OEM parts to come EX japan.

Excusez-moi in advance if this question is stoopid, but is it normal for parts to take so long to arrive?

I've just had the sprockets and chain done (31k on the baby) and I had to wait three weeks for a sprocket set, as there were none in Australia, could have gone up or down a cog with after markets, but wasn't much of a price difference with quality in the equation.
