In that picture, he looks more blind than deaf. Seriously - is he deaf for real (in which case how did he get a licence) or does he just pretend not to hear you when you guys are giving him a hard time for buying a gixxer?

Funny coincidence, I've just overtaken this particular Dave in the members by number of posts rank (I'm at 106, he's at 107). I guess that just says that I'm more of a nerd. :?

no hearing test required for a license

That's interesting, coz I could have sworn that in Victoria anyway you can't drive if you're legally deaf.

Not that it makes much difference when you're riding a bike - between the wind noise and the engine screaming away, you can't hear a lot else. Mick Dundee will tell you I'm as good as deaf on the bike anyway - no amount of horn blowing got my attention when I missed the turn to the Black Spur! :)

PS Wattie - I take it you've seen the Fawlty Towers episode with Mrs Richards... "Que?" "What?" "What?" "Kay Watt?"

Eye test and medical history required, no hearing test that I can recall and i've had plenty of hearing tests, none done by Vic Roads though.

And all the light flashing and arm waving too boot, you blind as well John or just not a big believer in mirrors? :)

You joining us again on the spur for this or next weekend incidentally?
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

hmm no one remebers mario's little "i wish i was a dave" cry??...hehe its been goin on for years...

as for deaf dave.....top bloke, bloody good rider, and a decent mechanic too!! (yup he was working for a top audi/merc sum euro dealership last i spoke to him)...hes a bit of a nutter on a bike tho....

wen i 1st moved here to SA he came over for a week & stayed at my place, i found it hilarious to give him a hard time whilst wearing a helmet , all the while smiling at him..he couldnt read my lips...i found it funny....

he was born deaf, lip reads way too well (oops- dont bag him from 20yards away when ur facing him) and made the mistake of buying a gixxer....
\
neway..now u make me feel like a nerd cos i just gave a biography on a bloke who doesnt even post on here ne more...must be too good for us now? or maybe he just doesnt like me??

Well when I joined here I asked about how mirrors should be adjusted, and a nice helpful guy called Neka said that they're there for you to reflect your own face and remind yourself how good looking you are...

Would love to this weekend, sounds like the weather is going to be perfect too, but this weekend I'm groomsman at my brother's wedding. Not sure if I can get out of it without someone noticing... :? Next week sounds tempting though - might see how things pan out.
