I reckon it will look pretty funny me hangin waaaaaayy orf the hornet trying to keep up with all you sports bike mounted KSRC'ans' I will just have to rely on local knowledge, cunning and guile!

Ask a few of the VIC KSRC ans that ride regularly with me Mick`C. The old dog still has a few tricks up his sleeve, even on a Honda!

Hey Strika,
I dropped a K&N filter in the wife's Hornet and modified the air intake "flapper" valve.
It improved the low down torque a bit and the "flapper" valve mod almost gives the bike a Kwaka like induction noise.
Cheers,
Pete

I think it looks like a great commuting bike...

(j.k.... they are great bikes... my last bike was a HONDA... and I am not ashamed of it)
The world is round. It has no point.

Thanks for the Heads up plane! I have heard about this flapper mod from guys with CBR1000's however hadn't realised it was the same on the Hornet! Thanks. I will dig up the thread on how to mod it! Do you have to do the filter with the flapper mod or can you do the mod by itself??? :)

The flapper valve mod was a five minute job and added more induction noise than anything else. Supposedly it helps the top end but, as the wife rarely gives the throttle a real tweak, she hasn't noticed any improvement, but you can perform the mod without any other mod's.
The K&N was a big change. The wife noticed it without me even telling her I'd done it. She appreciated the extra torque off the line.

I am a little suss still about the Flapper mod too Neka. From the Web forum reports, it only really effects the U.S. model which is choked up more than ours apparently, and also has less power.????? :? :? :? :? Pommie and Canadian riders report a lot of "No Difference" posts!

yea as i was told, by removing the valve it fuks with the v-tec and improves midrange, but sacrifices bottom end and top end, as u have to have it tuned to one fuel map (as opposed to the variable stuff it has)...
apparently the sensor opens/closes exhuast as it needs to for maximum power/efficiency...i was advised not to take it out unless ur doin a race type set up- full zorst, air filter, and power commander...

as said b4...running my bike with a K&N and full zaorst but without PC caused it to drop off a few HP...

Thanks Pabs, I'm enjoying it too despite the badge

A quick update on the tyre life I am recieveing from the Michelin Hi-Sports. I mentioned earlier in the thread that I had used these tyres before. In 1993!

Well they havn't changed a lot. They still grip as good as they ever did, and they still last about the same amount of time too!

I Looked at the odometer last night and it says 2046k's. And I reckon I will be lucky to get another 500k's from it!

Well I gestimated 2500klms before needing a new tyre, and I was wrong! I got 2600klms out of it!

Replaced both the front and the rear, as the front was rather scalloped and was starting to get a little wobbly!

I replaced them with a Set of Metzler Rennsports RS1 FR n RS2 RR. I wanted a set of Shinkos but no body had any in stock in my sizes! :( So I went with the cheapest I could find!

I will let ya'll know how they go! But so far they are doing everything they should. They went round n round all the way from the tyre shop to home this arvo! Mint! I knew I could rely on what the sales guy said!

I was checking one out at the Bikemania carpark the other day, they are a good looking bike. I also like the retro musclebike look, I used to adore my old Zephyr, but it had to go to make way for the 7, which had to go to make way for the R1.
