Photographers - bike pics (warning - lots of pics)

Post by rtyuiop »

Hi folks,

One bit of fallout from the calendar threads is that I notice we have a few semi-serious photography people on board. Anyone have any particular ideas on shooting bikes - static, not action shots, which would be completely different?

I had a bit of a play today when the spot I went to didn't have a view of the aircraft carrier I was chasing. Some reasonable shots with a bit of post processng, but nothing too exciting... And when I first got the bike I got a couple of reasonable ones.

So, any ideas? Other than get a prettier bike, like a Kwakka?

One thing I know I should think about more is parking the bike somewhere to the background is appropriate. After today, next time I will think about leaving the headlight on while shooting, and think about what I'm doing with helmets and luggage more!

A few of mine - note that my monitor is so fuzzy I can't really edit photos properly, so sorry if some of these are offensively bad! I have a new 20" iMac hopefully arriving tomorrow 8) .

Yes - I've been having fun playing with low wide angles!

Camera is an EOS 10D - still quite capable even though the new 5D kind of puts it to shame. Most of those were with a 17-40/4 lens, my favourite bit of gear. It's fantastic!

I don't think we'll have any shortage of volunteer photographers up here in Brisbane! And most of them are probably more likely to have enough time to do this justice, I am notorious for welching on KSRC events :(.

No advice forthcoming from me, with perhaps the exception of the Kwakka and lose the top box and helmet as you mentioned, great shots.
