A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

Sounds kinda strange. i think I won't visit Melbourne till I study up on this rulemick_dundee wrote:May well be tooGosling1 wrote:dead right mate, I always thought a 'Hook Turn' was a dance move with Peter Pan's nemesis......![]()
It is kinda unique, the old rh turn from the lh lane thing, seemed a nightmare idea when they first brought it in but credit where due it actually works well, trams get through as was the original intention and cars (generally) have no dramas with the hook turn, tourists being the exception generally

bloody hell Mickmick_dundee wrote:Just get yourself a local escort (Mina probably has some recommendationsZX9R King wrote:Sounds kinda strange. i think I won't visit Melbourne till I study up on this rule) or find a street with a normal rh turn
Hook turns apply only in the city (as far as I know) and even then not every intersection so relatively easy to avoid.
you live here and don't know the hook turn setup
mate
is simple...
in the CBD look at the over head signal at each intersection
no hook turn sign....do a normal turn (from the middle)
btw hook turns also apply in South Melbourne

OK, I can understanf=d that, but most brisbane drivers would get the fark confused outta them. They don't understand the "If ya over the stop line ya can go on a amber signalSmitty wrote:bloody hell Mickmick_dundee wrote:Just get yourself a local escort (Mina probably has some recommendationsZX9R King wrote:Sounds kinda strange. i think I won't visit Melbourne till I study up on this rule) or find a street with a normal rh turn

I was terrified from the sounds of it, and couldnt quite picture how it worked in my head. But after watching it be executed 2-3 times i understood it & would happily do it if i went to Melbourne.mick_dundee wrote:May well be tooGosling1 wrote:dead right mate, I always thought a 'Hook Turn' was a dance move with Peter Pan's nemesis......![]()

Go left to go right. Only in fucken Melbourne....
As for U-turns at traffic lights, they are bloody dangerous as drivers approaching a green (or yellow for that matter) set of lights automatically assume they have complete right of way and that there is no way known anything could possibly stop them from going through the lights.
Just easier not to do them. Besides, they are illegal here.

Hey, we ride bikes, we don't need laws, signs or even intersections to make a u-turn. Hell, with enough 'fun handle' we don't even have to move the front wheel
