i gotta say though..what does the ole Govnr expect... after a car hits the wall running the 1/4 mile in reverse at Eastern Creek, the coroner gets involved and is concerned about letting anyone loose on a racetrack resulting in a simple solution of handing a monopoly to the Superbike School on Eastern Creek, arguably the best learning track in Sydney. The resulting price hike turns a track day into a costly exercise. Yes, you can go to Oran Park for alot less, but again.. for learning.not so appropriate.
Still got the urge, can't afford to track day it, use the streets instead, and with stunting and freestyle all the rage its only gettin bigger...

You can still have a lot of fun on that road, particularly in the twisties north of Calga, where there is very small likelihood of getting pinged as there aren't too many spots for the coppers to sit.

As Cath said and Pabs implied it's now a matter of pick your times.
We head out early on Sunday morning partly to miss most of the cops and the non-locals.
Late morning/lunch/mid afternoon is a different ball game and I'd avoid it then.
Of course if you can get out during the week (ie Pabs) you're laughing.

To be honest I'd still ride it even if were some distance away. But then I'm a freak who doesn't mind riding on the DDP weekends as I find the OPH enjoyable even at 70 - practicing my throttle control, ie attempting to use no brakes ala first session of ASBS Level 1. Builds a different set of skills you don't normally get to practice.

I have to admit though I ignore the change for the most part - just keep an extra eye out for cops (yes despite missing the signals MadKaw and Dave#3 behind me saw  ), riding it regularly you get to know where they hang out, and I tend to do a speed that I can slow down to a plod-safe level pretty quickly from. None of this 160kph+ that some silly buggers do. That's just deserving of trouble.

My 2c, less tax = $1please, hand it over

If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.

Yes Tony, I find ideal for practising throttle control and since I have been away and not riding as much, this slower speed limit is ok until I get my confidence back.
