you are no crackpot mate, I had a water-injection system on my old HQ 308 back in the early '80's, it worked really well........you could always tell when the water had run out......it would work just as well on a bike motor, just got to work out the manifold adapter, and your in......

it works for the same reason that *most* internal combustion motors perform better when it rains............its no urban myth, the physics of combustion are well-established :D

works especially well on turbos/superchargers, moreso with methanol 8) who needs an intercooler

I am surprised it isnt used more really. As far as cleaning carbon off for a once off operation a spray bottle misting into the intakes may help, but really needs to be set up for some time, mind you a big chunk of carbon may do damage if it comes loose like too valve surfaces and jamming in the rings perhaps?
