95 Honda Integra VTiR vs zx2r

Post by hidepenny »

last nite had few drags with a honda integra vtir at few traffic lights, it was fun, but we went even, and after the 110km/hr mark, he passed me easy even when i had my throttle full on at 3rd gear, i think it's my gear change problem, however i thought the 250s were "at least" quicker than the integra , may be its only me :o

On my ZZR250, the speed advantage over a car runs out pretty rapidly after 80km/h. The initial 0-60km/h bit is great (the only car that's ever beaten to the other side of an intersection from standstill was the HSV GTO or whatever the HSV Monaro variant is called) but after 80km/h the acceleration just isn't there and any high performance car is going to reel you in very quickly.

I know the ZX2R can rev higher and has a bit more power, but apart from an RGV250 or RS250 I don't think any 250cc bike is going to outperform a modern sports car at over 100km/h. Too much wind resistance, too little power.

good point, but it was quiet and ya know no cars in front, it'd have looked really a pussy to back off then since, it's on princess hwy, where it's open and wide ya know, and the last time i dragged with a rx-7, coz of the distance to the next traffic light it wasn't complete, so ya know just did it again to see how these cars perform, i've driven the integra, didn't realise it's this fast until i dragged it with a 250cc

can't wait to get a 600cc :D :D :D :D :D

what rev's were you changing gears at??

You'll need to get it upto atleast 15-18K IMO... ie Red line. They don't really get their max torque till about 10,000RPM, hence you have to push HARD at the take off and go flat out and click up through the first few gears when she's rev'd up..

My ZX2 went plenty quick enough so I doubt it's the bike and it had over 110kg's sitting on it.

Hehe, this should be in the jokes section.. Mate 250's are slow, yes all of them. Wait until you get your upgrade, and stop embarrasing yourself silly. :P

i remember a very loud honda civic with a black bonnet keeping up with me on my 250... but that wasnt up to huge speeds and not from a standing start.

but hey my 250 was a honda so it was already disadvantaged

You should have won mate, ive ran 13.9qtr mile on my zx2r which has a muffler and thats it.

Unless the integra is modded is will only run in the 14sec range. a standard type r runs like 14.9.

Launch harder and youll get him.

if the car wasnt stock (had an exhaust, air filter etc) and the rider couldnt launch their bike real good, he would be toast

true, but its very very rare to see a type r run faster than 14sec. I know they can, but most times at the drags they are in the 15sec bracket.

Comes down to rider/driver though.

Buy a bigger bike and youll own him. :D

As anyone who drag races will tell you it is all in the launch. Unless its an AWD turbo and they drop the clutch at high revs a bike should beat just about anything on four wheels through an intersection. Once you have that advantage it is pretty hard to overcome provided you aren't getting to stupid speeds. 110kph on the ZX2R is just into 3rd if I remember correctly so you should have no problem dealing with the Honda. With a 10krpm take off slipping the clutch to keep the revs up and changing up just before red line I had no problem staying away from a 200sx with front mount and exhaust. Make sure you slip the clutch too because dropping it at those revs will have the front wheel in the air very quickly. I lane split/filter (whatever it is going between stationary cars) so getting off the front row quickly is always a good idea if you don't want a car up your butt.
19,500 before the cut out. Can you hear me SCREEEEEEEAM!!!!!!!!!

OMG Neka just did his FirstKSRC Nanarin' ....... I'm gobsmacked.
Onya Neka & very sensibly put too mate, top stuff.

As for the zxrtoofiddy vs the Rhonda. It will depend on the Mods & drivers skill.
I've seen Dan Launch & i can't imagine anyone beating him across an intersection even if he was on a ride-on mower,
But I'm with Neka just "Launch th' farka" & Back off before he does ... the winner gets to chose when it's over
