there was one other Hemi - my girlfriend's Mum, back in the early '80's, she had a big old green whale ' Chrysler by Chrysler' ? or some such crap, it was a CJ I think ? with a 360 auto  , this thing used to smoke the bags in 1st sooooo easy, then light up hard into 2nd, and actually 'chirp' the tyres into 3rd  - It was fully dead stock.......

Correct, though in some dialects it apparently also meant 'small hill' or 'breast' ...

Monaro translates to "a high plateau or high plain". Do you know what Torana translates to (including the alternate translations) :?:

That is a magnificent example of the *toughest* muscle car ever built in Oz........(Phase III owners can belt off all they like, but in the end, they still had 4 doors and looked like a taxi...... )

just ask Norm Beechey

Kind of running OT, but since when did that matter?

One of my friends at high school, his mum was telling me about her (late) first husband, and his pride and joy - a Phase III. This is when they were still new-ish, so it was secondhand, but not 'old'. Anyhow, they loved that car. Quick as stink, all that.

Which made it doubly hard when they had to spend the night with an angle grinder chopping it up after they found out it was stolen

*sighs* ah your a bunch of funny fucks I gotta say... hahaha

My bro used to have a Safari.. Dubbed the Maroubra Mercedes, I think he was going through abit of a retro phase, dunno what it went like but it was good for towing the boat to go fishing and diving :)

A guy at a place we do IT for bought an old Manaro, very early rounder shape in a canary yellow, completly original was in a photo shoot with the new Monaro in yellow also, with a bloke in the boot to drop the arse end down abit.

Dunno what he paid for it, but I believe well over $20, took him 5 years of coaxing the original owner to sell it.. It's got the original plates and the owner just recently gave him a set of plates he's had for years but never put on.. HK 1968 or something like that I think it looks just like this from the pics he showed me..
