I got put onto someone called Max at Planet Disc in Wantirna South who is apparently one of the few people who can machine floating discs properly and he thinks he might be able to salvage them and said no major problem even if they go down to 3.2mm so I am going to keep my fingers crossed and take ...

Checked the head bearings, steering and wheel bearings when the wheel was off to remove the discs and everything seemed pretty tight.

Am in Melb so will grab a dial gauige today and check runout but also have a sneaking suspicion it is a dodgy caliper.

Thx,

Brake pulsing/biting after disc machine/new pads

Hi All,

Took my front discs off the zxr250 today and got them machined and also put new EBC pads in and on the first run it is a complete disgrace. Really bad “pedal” (lever) pulse and looking at the discs and judging by the frequency of the pulse it appears that the pad is biting either on or ...

Thanks for the info about the fuel ... looks like I might as well stick with standard unleaded.

As for the timing, I wanted to advance not retard it, to make a bit of power and take advantage of the higher octane fuel available here.

Cheers,

Fuel and ignition questions for zxr250

Hi All,

I have a 1989 zxr250a and have a couple of questions about fueling and ignition timing for this bike.

1. Does anyone know what RON fuel Japan was using in 1989? Did a bit of a web search and it appears it was probably high 98-100 like it is now.

2. When the zxr250 was complianced ...

No need for envy

Serious green going on here too ... got it 3 weeks ago so am looking forward to ditching the L plate (2 more months). The crack in the left lower fairing was there when I got it, previous owner did a bodgy repair but I figure if I fix it Murphy will get me and I will drop it on that side

Hey jeff_villa, can you let us know if it is the same copy as the one I described in my original post? With a bit of luck it has been scanned from a better original copy ...

Thanks,

Looking for BETTER manual for zxr250a

Hi All,

I posted a related reply to a topic in general discussion but thought it probably belongs here ...

I am looking for a workshop/service manual for a zxr250a 1989 model that is better than the really crappy crooked scanned one with the w watermark and the illegible diagrams that look ...

Is it the really crappy crooked scanned one with the w watermark and the illegible diagrams that look like they were photocopied on a 1960 vintage xerox machine? ... I have that one and it sucks especially since I have a zxr250a and the wiring diags etc. are wrong

Still, it is better than ...
