Re: Battery charging....
The best charging rate would be approx 1 amp or less, so use the 2 amp setting if thats the lowest you have got and keep an eye on it. If it roughly a 10A/hr battery being charged at 2A, approx 5hrs should do it, maybe a bit less if it starts getting too hot.

Re: sloppy gear shifter
If you are talking about where the lever pivots on the peg (rather than the splined arm on the selector shaft) it may have a bronze bush inside that can be pressed out and replaced. When the one on my old 6 got sloppy, Kawasaki would only sell the whole gear lever. I pressed out the old bush and got ...

Re: Handlebar grip size
The size is referring to the diameter of the bar, if you have got some verniers just measure across an exposed part of the bar. From memory the left bar is normally 22mm and the right one 24mm to fit over the throtle tube.

Re: Family Ambulance cover
This might be stating the obvious, but in Victoria at least the Ambo cover does not apply for accidents on the road. The Ambos will send you a bill that will need to get sent to the TAC.
they do...???

Re: Anyone had experience with Aluminium brazing?
Depending on the availabilitly of engineering workshops handy to you, a good fix would be to get an aluminium "bung" turned up and tig welded into the sump. If you make the bung like a top-hat shape, it will give a greater weld area and be a lot stonger than the original.

Re: What is in WD-40?????
After being less than thrilled about WD-40 for a while i switched over to a product called Inox a few years ago - definitley lasts longer for lubrication and rust prevention purposes.

It was good to finally see this film after having heard about it so many times. The street race footage was interesting!

Re: R.I.P Greg Pretty
Sorry for such a late reply but unfortunately I haven't been near a full size computer since before xmas. I knew Greg through control line model plane racing and loved hearing about his exploits on bikes back in the day. Take it easy up there mate!

Re: 1996 ZX6R Fork Seals. How easy???
I know this is a holy thread revival, but does anyone happen to know what size the internal hex is for the damper rod on a zx-6r F1? I would like to give my forks a freshen up at some stage and it would be good to pre-make the tool if possible. Thanks in advance for any info.

Re: 1996 ZX6R: Brake rebuild
Have you tried tying the lever back to the bar and leaving it overnight? Not too sure of the technicalities of why it works, but on my F1 it made a big improvement to lever feel.

I can also highly recommend Martin at Aussieparts. Good pricing & quick service you will have them at your door pretty quickly. I got some of the upgraded HH pads from him for the front of my 6 - very happy with them.

Re: New Race series in 2010.. and no MA involvement.
This sounds eerily like a carbon copy of recent years events with 4 wheeled motorsport, particulalry in Victoria with the AASA starting up in opposition to CAMS. CAMS being the rough equivilant of MA for cars. This has ended up with a pretty ordinary outcome with effectively 2 state championships ...

Re: Stuffed Battery?
If you have got 14.7v when its running the basic charging system (alternator & rec/reg) should be OK. If you suspect some residual current leakage you can check by removing the negative lead and putting your multimeter between the earth cable and earth terminal (with everything switched off). If ...

Re: Spongy brakes (front)
All I would do is slide some cardboard or newspaper up between the back of the caliper and the wheel to stop the wheel & tire getting a big blast of brake cleaner. Also take off the anti rattle clip from the back of the caliper so you can get better access, and if you are a bit keener take the ...
