Re: Speedo is out by 20kms

I have 15/45 which results in about an 18% error (reads 118 when GPS says 100). You get used to it after a while, or you could use a speedo healer as Rossi's suggested.

A constant 20 km/h out is pretty weird. Never heard of that before.

Re: zx9r trouble starting

The "choke" doesn't pump fuel in. It's a needle in a valve that allows the engine to suck through more fuel. Moving it back and forth won't do anything. There's no mechanism for pumping fuel into a ZX9 other than either using a high pressure fuel pump to overcome the needle and seat (not clever) or ...

Re: Stoner with EB?

Epstein-Barr CAN result in glandular fever, but not necessarily. It's also linked to other nasty conditions including some cancers.

I spent 6 months off school in year 11 with the wretched thing.

Hope he hasn't got it badly (if he's got it) 'cause it'd scupper his season but good.

Re: Pimp My f'n Shag-Waaaah Baby !!!

Only problem with the 1UZ is the width of the thing. Overhead cams on a 90 degree V makes for a wiiiiide engine. The Chev's a much easier fit (says the Ford owner). Pushrods actually make a lot of sense in terms of packaging. Want more grunt? A pair of turbos or an underbonnet blower'd fix that ...

Re: Dumb Arse Cops !!!!

Thought you'd bite at that. Doesn't invalidate the point. It's puerile to complain about getting pinged for knowingly doing the wrong thing (according to the current rules). Complaining that the regulations are stupid's quite another matter.

Re: Dumb Arse Cops !!!!

If you KNOW your bike does not conform to the law, you shouldn't complain bitterly when you're pinged. It doesn't mean you're being walked over. It means that you've taken a gamble and lost. Diddums.

I personally think it's a little bit silly to ride without mirrors. Saying that the stock ones are ...

Re: I need a new helmet - which one??

My old Arai worked well in my track off. Not even a headache. I got another Arai, but my normal track helmet's a Shark - not as comfy, but well made and I'd expect it to do the same job.

Re: zx9r owners (running) temperature

It'll be the thermostat. The OEM thermostat opens at around 80 degrees. My F1 has an aftermarket thermostat that was put in as a temporary fix whilst on a long ride, which opens at 65. I've got an OEM to replace it (when I've got time). With a radiator guard (and OEM thermostat) my 9 runs at 84 ...

Re: ZZR600 rear shock replacement - with what?

I had mine reconditioned (rechromed shaft, new seals, new bump stop, new spring and valving to suit my weight, fresh oil and gas) which cost me less than $300. Like you, I couldn't find one I was willing to drop money on. Trouble is now the front end feels doughy!

I've since bought an Ohlins that ...

Re: Track Bike...... (95 ZX6R) Close to being burnt!

+1 vote for carbs gummed up. My 500 was the same when I bought it all those years ago, as was my 250 track hack last year. Unused bike + fuel in bowls = gummed up orifices all over the place.

Re: Michelin road 2 tyres

It's a personal thing. I don't like the Road 2s on my 9. They've done 2500 k's so far, not showing much wear yet - I reckon I'll get about 12000km for a rear. The grip level's fine, I just don't like the feel of 'em. Then again, I'm in the minority that doesn't like Powers for the same reason.

On ...

Buckets. :)

Go kart track fun at Willowbank. The track's being resurfaced at the moment, so nothing happening but there's always Morgan Park and the Lismore race weekends, but not 'till April(?). It's cheaper than track days (even after getting your MA licence).

If you want more info, PM me and I ...

Re: KSRC QLD 'issues'

It was brought to my attention a long time ago that the reason QLD KSRC doesn't post up many rides or get togethers is because of bitching and infighting behind the scene.
Dunno that I'd agree with that. Out here in the back of beyond, anyway. Those of us out here are actually pretty casual. Most ...
