Re: alas poor clutch, I will miss you

Following the instructions in the workshop manual is a tad hard as they aren't very clear but just to clarify, this is the order I used:

First on, friction plate then the special spring plate then another friction plate, followed by a steel and then friction... alternating steel/friction until you ...

Re: alas poor clutch, I will miss you

Holy thread revival batman! I have finally gotten off my ass and retouched all my re-installation pictures and generally sorted through the flotsam to find only the useful pics. So without further adieu, I will finish off this clutch replacement howto.

To start off with, I took a glory shot of my ...

Re: alas poor clutch, I will miss you

Right... an update! I chased up my clutch parts with Mack 1 and then with Serco (the distributors). Spoke with one of the guys there and he assured me that he would investigate what was going on etc and call back. Well he did investigate and passed word back to Mack 1 and my missing clutch parts ...

Re: Motorycling torrents

Can I pretty please request an invite to Racing-underground? I tried signing up today and thought all was going well til I spotted the "invite code" field. Always happy to seed and have reasonable bandwidth at my disposal too... please o please o please :P

Re: alas poor clutch, I will miss you

Still not here... was supposed to get a call back about it today and didn't. I can heartily recommend the following

Do not purchase Barnett clutch kits or parts in Australia the people handling the update: production are a bunch of idiots. I think it's simple enough to chase up some parts ...

Re: Replacing clip-ons

Another question. The existing handlebars will obviously have holes in them to locate the electrics and throttle to stop them from spinning around the bars... what's the usual procedure for taking these across to the aftermarket bars? mark and drill?

Re: Replacing clip-ons

AH! Good thinking 99! I guess I should buy that front head stand that I've been wanting to buy. :) Why on earth did I not think of that... damn i like trying to do things the hard way.

Replacing clip-ons

I realise it's not a kwaka but figured I would ask here to save me going to an unfamiliar forum :P

I have a new set of Gilles GP lite handlebars for my Aprilia RS250. I will obviously have to remove the top yoke but I'm just wondering whether I need to undo the main bolt that goes down into the ...

Re: alas poor clutch, I will miss you

Well... as you might possibly guess, the parts STILL haven't arrived. The spindle has arrived from Japan, it actually arrived quite a while ago. Apparently Barnett fucked up when it came to part numbering or something. I'm calling up on Tuesday since it's been a fortnight since I last checked in but ...

Re: alas poor clutch, I will miss you

Nope, no special tools. The clutch held itself in place, surprisingly. Unfortunately I know that this will not hold true when re-assembling the clutch so hopefully my local Kwaka shop will either let me borrow the required tool with a deposit or sell me one that won't cost the earth. Turns out my ...

Re: alas poor clutch, I will miss you

Well, my parts... well. 1 part is on back order from the land of the Rising Sun. Initial estimates were that it would be here in time for Christmass but looks like that's failed. So I'm looking at Jan 3rd. Also the springs for the clutch kit are also on back order so they are due at the start of Jan ...

Re: Naming Bikes

Mine is called Gary... after the snail in Spongebob Squarepants. Yes, I realise that this is rather strange... but Gary is one of the stupidest cartoon characters imaginable, a meowing snail that lives underwater. I reckon a ZX10R on the road is also completely stupid, since they are hilariously ...

Re: alas poor clutch, I will miss you

RIghto. Had a reasonably successful weekend. As Pontikat correctly pointed out... I never thought there was going to be much drama involved in dismantling this. I have taken a bunch of pics just in case any newbies want an illustrated guide to the bits and bobs. And yes, there was beer on hand ...
