re: Buying a track bike - what to look for?
Have a real good look at the frame. They were prone to cracking if used hard or abused. The place to look is the underneath part of the frame, around where the ram-air ducts go thru.

<snip> even those 'shinko' things were only $10 cheaper.....
Yeah but that's because bikeshops are ripping people off on them.
I can get a 120/70 front Shinko for $125 fitted and $175 for rear.
That's $300 for a set and that's the most they should be.
Still $300 - $380 isn't that much of a ...

re: Budget tyres for my ZX6R J1
I've been running a Shinko 005 on the rear of my Z750 for the last 2,500 k's.
They are as good in the dry as the Pilot Roads I once had on another bike and are more than adequate for the ZX6s power as long as you aren't trying to win any races.
But they are only just adequate in the wet.

re: Epileptic Speedo
First thing I'd do is locate the speedo wiring connector, unplug it and spray some WD40/RP7 or similar inside it. It may just be a dodgy connection.
Failing that, I strongly suggest you get your hands on a service manual for your machine and follow the step-by-step instructions to diagnose the ...

re: OJ to replace Hofmann
Well it'll be nice to see two green machines out there for the next few rounds. It was a bit strange seeing only one of the bewdiful green kwakas in sundays race.
And I wouldn't be surprised if Jacque does so well that he takes Hoffmans ride off him full-time.

WOW ... close call
As for braking advice, is it too obvious to say, try using less rear brake and a bit more front
I usually practice hard braking every couple of weeks or so, braking as hard as possible from different speeds, to the point where the front wheel locks. I find it keeps my ...

Actually, the mushroom plug Booze mentioned is a combination patch/plug that is fitted from the inside of the tyre.

good roads in tassie ... LONG
Here is a little something me and a few mates threw together a while back. It is a summary of our opinions of some of Tassie's great roads.

why didnt someone tell me how #@&( hard it was to pull apart a Z750 and put it back together?
Because you didn't ask
Seriously though, next time ask before you start and I'm sure you'll get some pointers, though hopefully more helpful than Yappa's contribution

Re: re: changing spark plugs!
Marty, do what Hammer said. Get the right fuel in it ASAP, ride it and see how it goes. New plugs never hurt though but if if you're not too far off a service, it might be able to wait until then.
A case of 'suck-it-and-see' really. Good luck bud.

re: Helmets..?? Whats Hot.?
I have a HJC AC10 'King Mingus'. It's pretty comfy & reasonably quiet.
Used to be $550, can get them on salke now for around $350-400.
But if I was buying again, I'd be seriously looking at the KBC VR1.
Nicely appointed interior, comfy, look the biz and well priced.

Hell get anything into it other than LRP or diesel.
Why did you use LRP in it? Was it recommended by somebody? If so, shoot them next time you see them

re: Quick question about seats
The part numbers will be different because the seat padding was different.
On 2000 models onwards, the riders seat is noticeably softer and more comfy than the 98-98 models, so the fact that the part numbers are different doesn't mean the seats aren't interchangeable.
