Just finished 2 nd track day on my 08 zx10. A few issues, can anyone help.
First the clutch is very heavy compared to my old bike. Second the gearbox is notchy on downshift from 5 to 4. Third I hade the shift lever converted to race pattern and afterward the gear indicator isn't working.

Re: Custom Leathers
Got the Tigerangel suit yesterday, have been out for a spin and its fantastically comfortable. I'll post some more comments after the track day on Monday. Here are a few pics. Note the colour matching socks.

Re: Custom Leathers
I ended up ordering a set of custom Tiger Angel leathers today mainly because they are in Melbourne about 5 minutes from my office. Dropped in and was measured up by Steve who helped me do the design. I have added some features to the standard design (a few logos, heaps of stretch panels and ...

Re: Custom Leathers
Thanks for the info, I like the look of jackson racing he has some very satisfied customers over on netrider taking him up. Gimoto seems a bit expensive as does Tiger Angel although the option of altering in Melbourne is a good one.
Another option I have found is Pilot which is a US custom brand ...

I have been using Alpinestars 2 pc suit now for a few years and unfortunately its a bit of a tight fit. A couple of kids tends to do that to you. Thinking of getting some custom made leathers and wondering whether someone can give me an idea of options. Seems gmoto is a high quality option but ...

Re: GPS lap timers
I use racechrono and simply put the phone inside my jacket. I have the gps sensor mounted inside the fairing. You lock the keypad to stop any mistaken key presses fouling up the timing and you don't have the distraction of watching your times during the session, just check them when you come in.

Re: ZX10R 2008 track bike gearing
Yes thanks Macca, Blurr and borngreen, great info and much appreciated. I gave the bike a wash this morning and its in pretty good nick for a stolen machine, just a few scratches that I can cover with some decals. It needs new levers (it has aftermarket folding levers which appear buggered) and some ...

Re: ZX10R 2008 track bike gearing
Yes Mick is still there I spoke to him yesterday for 10 mins or so. He made suspension suggestions similar to Macca.
I need new tyres because the ones on the bike are shot - the bike is a recovered stolen bike and the thief thought it fun to do burn outs to the canvas!

Re: ZX10R 2008 track bike gearing
Thanks for the advice on suspension. When you say dropping the forks through the triple clamps what do you mean - lifting the triple clamp 5 mm? I'll get Brighton Kwaka to do the mods but I just want to know what I am talking about when I ask them to do it!

Re: ZX10R 2008 track bike gearing
Thanks Macca. I want to keep the suspension expenditure to a minimum, do you think redoing the front springs for my weight and keeping the rear suspension intact will be OK (after adjusting it). Also any tips on tyres - I want to run a treaded race tyre so I can run in wet or damp sessions.

Re: ZX10R 2008 track bike gearing
thanks
Think I will go 16/43 as I am changing chain as well, the existing one is almost had it.
I will run 190/55 tyres. Much difference with 200/55? Never tried them....
Any tips on tyres. I had Pirelli Supercorsa SC treaded tyres on my 600 track bike which were great and were thinking of them ...

ZX10R 2008 track bike gearing
All
Have just bought a zx10R 08 as a track bike and looking at changing stock gear ratios. Any tips? Thinking of 16/43, another guy at broadford suggested 15/44. Will maily use it at Phillip Island.
Cheers
