Re: Z1000 Airbox Mod

I've got a 03 Zed with a PC3, and had a new set of pipes fitted at the last service.

I had it dyno'd, and Roger (the dyno guy from Motorcycle Weaponry bike shop) found that removing the "snorkel" intake from the top of the airbox was worth 7 more horses, and gave the bike a steeper power curve at ...

He just missed that first bloke that rode past....

He looked to me like he was totally out riding himself, right up to the impact.

The retail was about 100 bucks for 4 litres of fully synthetic silkolene and the filter, I think the oil was about $85, so about 15 bucks for the K&N.

I bought a whole lot of other stuff at the same time, the guy at the shop looks after me so I paid a little less than the above.

I just did an oil change on my Zed, the filter supplied to me was a K&N, it has a 17 mm nut welded on top of it. It will make the next change easier (and cleaner) than the last, as I too resorted to the screwdriver trick to remove the old filter.

G'day Gos,

I was in the city on Sussex St the other day, saw that Urban streetfarmhillclimbfighter parked on the side of the road... I nearly ran straight up the arse of a bus, staring at this wierd, out there motorcycle, it is a strange looking bit of gear.

... there was a bloody big crowd around it ...
