I've done basically the same work with my '82 GPZ750 and it too sounds like a coffee can full of rocks when cold ..
.. I've been wondering the same question about the final drive chain myself.

Re: Anyone seen GPZ750 parts at wreckers?
Yeah .. my 650 is a late model F2 with hy-vo camchain, etc so should interchange with 750 fine.
BTW: I've got a few leads from Find-a-part. Thanks to all!

Re: Anyone seen GPZ750 parts at wreckers?
I keep seeing KZ1000/1100 stuff on Ebay but not much KZ750 .. a few complete bikes which have been too far for me to collect and too costly to ship and then strip ..Gosling1 wrote:Ebay is also worth keeping an eye on, z750 stuff pops up every now and then.

Anyone seen GPZ750 parts at wreckers?
Starting to get desperate looking for for GPZ750 / GT750 / KZ750 block, heads, pistons (whole topend). Only had one member in NZ send me a message about parts, but I'd prefer to ship inside Australia at least.
Anyone seen a wrecker (or someone) with topend parts (in reasonable nic) for one of these?

Re: Leaking oil at head?
Ok .. I'll try re-torque and see if any improvement. It didn't leak immediately after the rebuild, so I'm hoping that's it ..
Lucky it's not watercooled or I'd be in real trouble ..
Traded off smokey (rings) for oily after the rebuild. At least oily isn't quite as obvious ..

Re: Leaking oil at head?
Sorry .. obviously I remembered this backwards. The o-ring is between block and head (and there was some silicone dabbed at the base gasket for this). I do remember putting the o-ring in, so not sure why it's leaking :(
No .. no decking of the head and I did a quick striaghtness check of the block ...

Leaking oil at head?
My GPz750R1 is leaking oil at the outer edge of both sides of the head where it meets the block. I can remember on the base gasket there was an o-ring around the oil passages to the cams, but can't remember if there was an o-ring at the head gasket, or if it was just the gasket expected to stop oil ...
