Other than a few scratches, these 2 are the more major damages.
I'm worried about glass particle getting into the engine as well.
Tap it out? That easy?smek wrote: Then just tap out the sight glass from the inside and put the new one in. Brighton kwaka recommended to use some silicon sealant when putting the new one in, apparently if you don't they can leak a bit. Just put a little bit of sealant around the outside and push it into the hole.
As i said the gasket was melded with the cover and engine, so I used a plastic scraper to get most of it off and a razor blade (again recommended by brighton) to clean up the last annoying bits.
Then new gasket on and clutch cover back on, rehook the cable and make sure it's the right tightness (the two bolts control that).
Easy.
Ok, thats cheap to do.smek wrote:Cost was about $16 for the sight glass and $15 for the clutch cover gasket.
How many layer is the glass?smek wrote:Having done that I reckon you could probably just dig the broken sight glass out without taking the clutch cover off, but might be tricky. And the long way is more satisfying![]()
Bradster wrote:Bad luck mate how much damage did YOU do to the car after it got knocked over (just kidding) what a pain in the arse though, I woud be getting him to at least pay for the parts if you do it yourself and make him provide beer and BBQ for the planned day, (least he could do).
Good luck
