BLING BUG

Postby Storm Front » Tue Jul 06, 2010 7:55 pm

I went for my first serious long run on my ZZR600 the other day. Found myself venturing out along the New England to Warwick, then out to Kilarney, Woodenbong, Kyogle,Casino, Nimbin, Murwilliumbah......and finally back into Toowoomba via Beaudesert and Boonah.... 8)
It was well after dark and I was on the highway to Toowoomba - not alot of traffic - so I was cruising up this long hill at about 120k. When all of a sudden these headlights were in my face... next thing I saw was blue and red flashers.

I checked myself - yep, 120k - gone... and I looked in my mirror to watch his indicator come on and pull off the side of the road.
Then the thought occurred to me... :)

1. he'd have only seen me for a flash of a second. :P
2. There's no plate on the front of bikes.
3. by the time he's turned around and got up to speed............. ;)

They claim the top speed of the ZZR is about 240.
Yeah F#$K IT I thought....and I peeled it on...constantly checking my mirrors for blue flashers.... :kuda:

The speedo needle was pushing very close to 250 when I decided to back her off. And no tailers anywhere in sight.
I cruised on into Toowoomba and down the range home.

I got to thinking about modifications. Things that can be done to improve the overall performance of these things. The suspension really does need attention i think. Its bouncing all over the place in corners if bumpy. It feels way to soft.
Can the ZZR600 be turbocharged ? and if so, who does these kind of conversions? And what is the ball park figure to expect when having this kinda thing done?

Cheers,

Jay.

Disregarding the illegality or irresponsibility, why do you want more?
Yes, shock work is a good idea as Phil will tell you.
A 4-1 exhaust will also get you a bit - I hear akropovic are the go, or you could get something else and rejet.
Yes you can turbo and NOS just about anything, and I'm sure you'll find someone who has done so online.
Sounds like you had enough horses for what you wanted to do though.
At those speeds take off about 20k's or so for your 'real' speed as indicated speed is off when that high.

PS. Had he actually turned and got you, instead of just giving you the warning he did, you would've been up for a lot more than just a small speeding fine.
If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
