2008 ZX6 Throttle response

Postby Glen » Thu Mar 05, 2009 9:41 am

I took the toy for its maiden outing last night just to see how it went.

Everything seemed to go well, the little buggers certainly rev like the bejeezus. Question for those that have them though. When you blip the throttle on down changes do you have to give it a real handful?. I'm used to the 10 where you blip it and it jumps. The 6 though just semed to do nothing to the point that a couple of times I thought I was out of fuel. The fuel lights on but theres a bit in it before anyone suggest that one.

It seems to accelerate fine and it revs out no worries it's just that its dead flat when you blip it.

When you "blip" your's just on idle Glenn does it have a delayed response?

Mine has it as well on down shifts.....I just thought it was an FI thing.....Coming from a carby bike before this one where it seem's to be a quicker response.......

BTW I just put a K&N filter in last weekend and seemed to make it worse...

Your more than welcome too take mine for a blat if you want to organise it to compare......

Glen, can you clarify?

Are you talking about a pause or lag between the blip action and blip response?
Or are you talking about the 'amount' of blip you're used to doing gives you next to no results?

If it's the first one - yes. There is a noticeable (though small) lag between blipping the throttle and actually getting the response.
If it's the second one - probably. I reckon the ratio of input:response on the 6 would be quite different from the 10. In the same way that for the 6 to do anything, you need to get up high in the rev range compared to the 10, I think you'd have to give it a bigger blip to get the similar blip response.

If you'd like me to investigate further, I'm more than happy to ride your 10 for a week or two
