Shoalhaven Motorsports Complex

There is a Facebook page to help support getting this new venue off the ground. Some significant progress has been made by Motorcycling NSW - the DA being lodged yesterday with Shoalhaven City Council.

If this complex goes ahead, we could have a new road-race track just down the road at Nowra - situated across the road from the current MX track, tucked into a pocket just SW of HMAS Albatross.

Get on the FB page and give them your support.

and here is the link to the video taken yesterday, Kevin Magee being the guest racer supporting this new complex....

I think that is the plan mate - they will be racing cars there as well, so you would expect a fairly decent-sized circuit.

They have a shitload of room to make the circuit - I think MNSW already owns pretty much the entire chunk of forest in that lower corner at the bottom of HMAS Albatross ?

It would be closer to Canberra than Oran Park used to be :kuda: :kuda: 2 hours door to door......

they say they're going to use cars at luddenham, like they do at marulan...

i wish ec south circuit was available for track days instead of just rider training

The more tracks the better, MEGA's monopolisation needs to be broken!

MNSW doesn't and won't own any of the land, the Shoalhaven City Council is buying the land from the government and will lease it to MNSW. Looking forwards to it, its almost my backyard.

OK thanks for clearing that up :) - I thought they owned the land where the MX track is ? Or is that leased from the council as well ?

Sounds like they are going to try and do it right from the start and are planning the build to cater for, and promote racing. Looking fwd to this new track just hope I am not too old to enjoy it when its complete

Don't know who owns the MX track. Council is going to lease the land for the new track to MNSW for $5000 a year! There is some opposition to the plan, but a lot of support. Some people are complaining about the risk of noise - they live next to a Military Airbase with LOTS of helicopters!

those sort of dickheads would complain to council if the crickets got too noisy at night ! Some punters just need a swift uppercut. I wonder if these same dickheads complain everytime a plane or helicopter takes off from Albatross ??? FMD

The best place for any racetrack - or dragstrip for that matter - is next to an airfield.

Really hoping this one comes good .......

its right next door to the base mate :kuda: great location. If you look at google maps, you will see a MX complex at the SW corner of Albatross. The road-race circuit is pencilled in for the forest directly across the road.

really hoping that this one goes ahead - from our place in Canberra, its about 2.5 hrs to Nowra, and it will be 100% sealed very soon. Dead easy run too, compared to the Batehole Bay trip down the Clyde.....
