Licence plate kits/ fender eliminators (for the americans),
looking at one to tidy up the tail section of my ZX10R, but what are the coppers likely to say about it(NSW), i know they can be tough at times- can they ping me for one or are they completely legal??
Here is a pic of one i am looking at.

Indicators 12" apart is ADR requirements for starters

ADR states bottom of tail tidy must have a reflector, and be 45 deg from the wheel nut.

ok, so the measurement between the two bottom holes is 157mm which is 6.2 inches, even giving another inch for both sides combined as the indicator stalks are a little wider this is shorter than the regulation 12 inches.
not worth it? or do they turn a blind eye to it??
this one has a reflector, i like them but if it gonna give me grief it's not worth it then.

well its got the red reflector may be a tad shy of 45, but it looks pretty good tho.

Nsw are pretty well ok about this sort of stuff.

But if you are a twat to a copper, expect to be booked for it.

Too easy.......just put the sucker on man.No doubt you'll soon find out either way!!
Also hope it's a 'good' flat foot that hauls you over.

i'm an idiot,it's a 2012 ZX10R...the indicators are in the bodywork so that rule won't apply

I'm not sure how the 12" indicator apart rule is applicable to a bike that comes factory with indicators intergrated into the tail section.



The bike is complianced with integrated indicators, along with dB reading stamped on the plate in aus.

If a cop defects you for integrated indicators, in essence he/she is defecting kawasaki Australia.

Cali state law is different, hence the bike comes factory with non integrated indicators.

That's correct, still need to satisfy this, if your an OPH regular, perhaps avoid, they have been stinging tidy tails/no reflector as of late with the blitz; so Ive been told.

Lucky your not in victoria this is a capital offence and u would definatly be booked no matter what, just because they do.I was defected when my reflector was on my guard and it was 45 degress from axle but as some of the guard had been removed they pinged me.It was legal as i went to vic roads and had it removed without question.bottom line is the coppers attitude.

You'll end up having to hacksaw the two lower arms of that base plate with that kit, our number plates are not UK styled in length. How about the width, does it come with adapters to suit?

I know with the evotech they give you universal adapters to fit aussie plates. A stick on rectangle reflector is provided in the kit, need to use your ingenuity though to fit; there is no fixed base to fit it to other than the number plate.

Its one of those things, i have a plate straight up under the tail, no light, no reflector and have never been booked, however i rarely ride on weekends, that said my commute is large, Kurrajong to the city daily.

Maybe i have been lucky, 2 1/2 years doing that now.

2 1/2 years ? I have been riding my ZX12R with the rego plate tucked up under the light and *nothing else* since about 2008 without ever having been booked or even asked about it glad that the coppers down here have got better things to do with their time than pointless bookings for a missing reflector ........won't somebody think of the children ??

Same. Years with an eliminator and indicators without a single issue, not to mention there is very very little on my bike that is stock standard. But then again I dont ride like a d1ck around areas where the fuzz are known to haunt, and if I am pulled for speeding (very rare, car only) I am the first to admit I did it. Never had a cop hassle my bike and actually never been booked once on a bike. I am also the first to admit I am no angel, but I do know the place and time to have fun.

IMHO you reap what you sow. Put the thing on and bask in its glory, and if you get done so be it. Worst case you pull it off and ebay it.
