Police-station burn-out hoon loses car
Megan Levy The Age May 23, 2011 - 9:07AM
A drunk driver who was arrested for doing burn-outs in Melbourne's north yesterday morning was released from custody
only to hop back in his vehicle and do a burn-out in the police station car park, police say.
Officers were astounded at the actions of the 21-year-old driver, who was re-arrested and had his car impounded under hoon legislation.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the Craigieburn man was one of two drunk drivers caught doing burn-outs since yesterday.
In the first incident yesterday morning, police were called to Craigieburn Road where residents said a car was doing burn-outs.
Police arrested the 21-year-old driver and took him to Craigieburn Police Station where he allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of .08. His licence was suspended immediately.
Police allege the man left the police station at 9.45am, but returned a few minutes later and performed a burn-out in the police station car park, before driving away.
The man's car was impounded under hoon legislation and he is expected to be charged on summons with a number of traffic offences, including drink-driving, refusing a breath test and careless driving.

Refuse breath test alone will cost you 2 years off the road and $1000 in Victoria. That's not including the mandatory sentencing for his drink driving and no doubt all the charges that come with doing burnouts.
So even though he is probably no doubt going to be out there, he really shouldn't be. Considering his actions on the night I don't think he'll give a shit. The locals will be watching him though, and like all the other drivers out there that ignore their sentence it will catch up with him, repeatedly until he goes in.
I'll repeat what seems to be my motto lately," no one here will hear about that though".

Wow, to think 0.8% used to be legal in the ACT, now in Vic they get their licence suspended immediately, not to mention all the children that died as a direct result of him doing a few burnouts....I hope they were good burnouts

Agreed. Sure, the burn out was stupid, as was the pca (which is still legal in the NT I think), but seriously you've got to admire his gall and he'll probably cool down and cop the consequences by tomorrow. He hasn't killed anybody FFS.

So you only get the "special treatment" if your a copper and you FORGOT YOUR CUPCAKES, do an illegal U-Turn to collect them killing an innocent person (riding a motorcycle).....I see now

It's more about his stupidity than the laws he has broken. I agree a lot of would have done worse than he did...I did when I was young as well (luckily wasn't caught for most).
Agree or disagree with the laws he broke, you have to be stupid to do a burn out in a cop shop car park...what did he think they would do?

Interesting ..... to be stupid would be to not expect the consequences, correct?
Perhaps he knew exactly what they'd do and said fuck it and did it anyway? Is that stupid? Now if next week he's bitching about losing his job and crying poor then he's stupid, but if gets on his pushy and peddles to work then he's copped it sweet and made his choices and lived with the consequences.

they chase them out of the isolated car parks

CAR hoons are endangering lives by gathering in large numbers near a Victorian ski summit for late-night burnout sessions, police say.
Groups of up to 15 cars regularly congregate at a large car park on the way to Mt Donna Buang, east of Melbourne, to burn rubber, a highway patrol officer says.
In the most recent incident, police were called to the Ten Mile Turntable on Mt Donna Buang Rd, where a large number of cars were parked, in the early hours of the morning.
so where can they go?
still plenty of evidence on the backroads in the hills though.
according to the news tonight the craigieburn guy was doing burnouts when the under 10's were being dropped off for their footy match.
