They are the pick of the triples - nicest handling and good power but not as 'manic' as the 500.
How much does he want for it ?

Mate, I'd give my left knacker and half my right for one, Actually make that both knackers and half the bolt.
OHHHHH to be cashed up

He is thinking of selling it but I don't know what it is roughly worth. He said it was part of a race team in it's day , he fitted blinkers etc to get it on the road and the pipe is a bit loud

roughly.......in that condition..........the price would depend a lot on how the motor sounded when it ran. If it was nice and quite, no major rattles, started first or second kick - I think he could squeeze upwards of $3k for that bike. But the motor would have to be in A1 condition to get top dollar.
No mufflers - that's why the pipe is a bit....loud

- Those pipes just have the stingers at the rear, this was way cool in the 70's !! best sound known to mankind...

They look like quality pipes, no doubt about it.

I dont remember anyone racing the 400s when I was racing my 500? mostly 500H1s & 750H2s were the gun bikes & they had classes for them. The chambers dont have any mufflers on the stingers, it would be very loud. That is a bit strange, simply because to race them in the 70s you couldnt use stingers without mufflers..
If my ever fading memory is correct they had the 250S2, 350S3,[later 400? to compete against the RD 400] The H1 & H2.. I could be very wrong though, it was a long time ago..

Heres me on my H1 in the 70s note the mufflers on the chambers>>

.....
your memory is pretty close Steve
S1 - 250
S2 - 350
S3 - 400
H1 - 500 (also known as the Mach III)
H2 - 750 (also known as the Mach IV)
while we are bunging up pictures of ourselves on triples in years gone past - here is a favourite of mine......

Yep - that's the S3 400. Steve's memory is almost as good as mine

(S4 reference changed to correct S3. I might have Alzheimers, but gee I'm glad I don't have Alzheimers...)

SOLD, I'll bring Billy up personally. However i must warn you that when he starts with a hug he can get a little carried away and start kissing then pelvic thrusting then.......... Well you get the picture.
To get him off is harder than pulling a fat kid of a jelly tart
