pilot roads.. Nah. A softercompound slick. A source has found the hard compound to be too hard.

I was thinking of heading out there to grab some brake pads. I had this rather unpleasant grinding noise coming from the front end yesterday and then realised hit metal.

Well I ended up sticking with the hard bridegstone slicks, shouldn't have the problem others have had as the 6 doesn't have the power of the 10 obviously. Also the 180 is a different construction to the 190 so pressures etc will also be different. Craig mentioned some guys are running the 190 as low as 18psi cold. The 180 is around the 27psi mark. Hopefully it's not wet on the weekend and I actually get to try them out.

Dont get the gold fern ones, mine were binding like barstards, changed pads the other day & problem solved... oh & I had done a full service on the calipers (cleaned the pistons & greased) to no avail, I will never buy another set of those again :?

Thats odd, I've used plenty of the Gold Fren pads with no problems...
Usually filling the bases a little and chamfering the leading edge of the pads can stop binding and get quicker release, if its a problem (I've never had too but occasionally chamfer the pads if I remember.)

I could hardley turn the front wheel on the stands at one stage, so a slight chamfer would not have worked
......... anyway as stated changed to another brand & problem solved so I am happy ;)

Thanks for the heads up re the pads. I couldn't hang around last night so never ended up getting a set. I know this probably sounds like a stupid question, is that the brand he stocks?

Yes that is what he stocks, Gold Fren .
I have them in my ZX6 and have had no problems, whatsoever!
Will use them again next time too ( although haven't tried HH's yet ?)
