I have used boiler door 1" tape before in a dirtbike muffler, worked so much better

Find a boiler repair business and I am sure they will sell you a few meters

Yep that looks a shit load better,steel wool will do the motor no good as ut breaks up and gets sucked back in with a decent backfire

$25 for the packing which was some white fibreglass looking stuff.
