Disc Grinding

Hi all,

I am looking for someone who can grind all 3 disc's on my KZ650D2 SR, if possible around the Hornsby Area. My rotors have some ripples and new pads just don't like gripping them, new ones are a bit expensive and it is a bit hard trying to get used ones.

Any help would be most appreciated. 8)

Thanks
Noel

Noel - you could also try some of your local brake & clutch specialists - anyone who machines flywheels will also be able to do this job. Some of them may get a bit narky about grinding bike discs, especially if you get below the minimum thickness ( its 4.5mm or 5mm on those old discs as I recall...) - just tell them its a vintage bike that is going in shows, and is hardly ever ridden !! :kuda: Thats worked for me before.....as long as you don't go under 4mm on these discs, they will be fine.

If you end up needing to source some disc rotors - for old stock ones, try Penrith Wreckers. These guys specialise in pre-85 stuff.

Thanks Guy's, I will see what can do. I haven't measured the Rotors as yet but thanks for the tip for a new-old set. After this has been done I will go the Braided line route even though I am trying to keep the bike a period machine I will go down the safety track.

Thanks
Noel

Yes, that would be great. Its not often you find anywhere that advertises disc grinding....

Dustproof - If you really want to keep the 'period' look, just take the stock rubber lines down to any brake shop - most of them will be tooled up to make brake lines. If you get them replaced with 'brand-new' rubber lines, then the braking performance will be much improved, almost to the level of braided lines.
