Chris and I let other people ride our bikes all of the time.. Normally friends though.. All with the understanding that if you break it you fix it..

Just wondering, how many of your friends would pay up if it did break, it may sound pessimistic but if they dropped it and the bill was a new set of fairings and nic nacs worth about $2000 - $3500 would they fix it, NOPE I DON'T THINK SO, they'd tell you "stiff shit mate, next time don't give it to me to ride" and leave you with the bill, would your insurance cover it, doubtful, sorry if i'm bursting a few bubbles here but then reality bites.
Remember the old saying people, A FRIEND WHO OWES YOU MONEY CAN NEVER BE FOUND AT HOME OR ANYWHERE ELSE 'CAUSE THE BASTARDS ARE IN HIDING.

Les I think that really is pessimistic mate. I don't know about you but I CAN trust my mates to come through.

When I nearly threw Barrabob's 6R down the track at Morgan Park I did it with the full understanding that my racebike was on the line. In fact as the thing was trying to force itself out from under me and shaking my weak malnourished body ( :P ) like a rag doll I was actually wondering if there was another way to come up with the money to fix it outside of selling my racebike. And yes I did have time to think about it, it was a kind of lengthy tankslapper....

Not everyone runs the other way when the shit hits fan dude.

IMHO anyway.

Does it worry you if something happens to it about repairs? insurance? chasing them for money?
I've swapped a ZZR250 for a GSXR600 a couple of times. Given the cost ratio is about 2:1 and that I was more likely crash, I was happy to do it.

Oh and I let heaps of people use my freestyle BMX in the pits at the track. So much easier than walking places in leathers.....
You have a BMX bike....
Can I have a ride on it?
No Really Can I?
I was a BMX Bandaid in my younger days & I can do some really cool skids & stuff.

I recently got a test ride on mates CBR1000 a few weekends ago, it has only taken a year or so for him to let me, as a previous test ride on another mates CBR900 involved LOTS of wheelies & a few endo's thrown in just for fun & he was a little hesitant to see his Blade doing the same thing...

He actually told me this after offering the ride & it was on the condition he was riding my 636 at the same time...

To make him feel better I only did a few small 1st gear wheelies to see what it would do & I found out you need at least 9k onboard for it to lift the front in 1st....

Get this man - I fixed it!

Well sort of, the shagged bearings had destroyed the forks that were on it (those nice chrome ones too  ) so I had to change them too. Only thing was, the only other freestyle (read: strong) forks I had here have a really long shaft on them, so even with the headset tightened right down they were loose.

So with all my dodgy resourcefullness or however you spell it I doubled up the upper bearing cups with one that had a wider thread, so the one above it could tighten on. Anyway it appeared to be ok until I did a few big jumps, and now it makes a crack sound everytime you land it hard and needs constant tightening, but it is still heaps better.

I just hope it doesn't kill the frame, I have killed 2 frames in the last few months.....

Still beats walking in the pits though. I doubled Alex from LAE on the hangers at the last meeting, he bailed when we got to his pit rather than risk me turning or stopping the thing  Was making all sorts of imminent-catastrophe noises as we were riding coz of the extra weight, all these people in the pits were freaking out on it lol.

Yeah, Neil is the only person other than me to ride my bike (oh excluding the mechs when getting the gearbox sorted!)
