Robyn wrote:On the subject of GP accom. I read mention of staying trackside..... I stayed in a house at Vetnor one year, which was great, close to the track and near the beach however from the enquiries I've made so far this year, seems pretty booked out so a girlfriend and I were planning to stay trackside this year, however have been unable to find any info regarding pricing and booking etc.... Is it too early?? Sounds like you guys have been many times; so any commments or feedback on staying trackside you could give me would be appreciated. Thanx in advance!
Have you tried the Phillip Island track web site ? Thats how I book trackside the other year. Make sure you book in advance or you'll be in for a long wait at the gate.
The only negative that I found trackside was the toilets and showers just weren't cleaned often enough but it is non stop partying trackside.

Hi Robyn Thank you for your email in regards to obtaining tickets for the 2005 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island, 14-16 October. VIP Hospitality tickets for the 2005 Moto Gp will go on sale late April, early May.
Three day Grandstand and general admission tickets are available now through ticketmaster7 on 131 641.
You can book trackside camp sites through the Grand Prix Travel office on 9676 2144. The prices are currently the same as 2004 if you purchase prior to 30 June 2005.
There is a choice of 4 reserved grandstands at $235 per seat (reserved for 3 days) or 3-day General Admission is $125 - all prices quoted are in Australian Dollars.
T and I stay normally at the other "on-site" campsite at the track it's called the Highside campground. you pay for the 3 days and it's a touch quieter than "trackside campground". if you need any further info PM me or T about it.
I must say however we (T and I) are waiting on what everyone else in our club is doing before we book Highside.
Does anyone wanna go splits on the ride down from Sydney, I'll supply the vehicle and share up the driving and the fuel etc, probably be able to get two bikes on the back aswell...............
Offers there......

We're probably going to take the Landcruiser down with the bikes on a trailer. Might have space for a spare bike, certainly space for heaps of gear, but only two seats
Troopy is a great place to sleep - dry and portable
wheres the fun in driving?? tried that last year, how crap....if ur gunna go, ride the bloody bike-thats wot there for...thats half the fun..the journey..travel light, deal with the elements, enjoy the experience...
I do a lot of seriously thinking.... it hurts I know... but, I'm going to buy a shower blind from a camping place. T reckons I'm mad but I know my kids will use it at other trips besides PI.
I say Highside is the go... get there sometime on the Friday and you have the back fence tp camp against. Good ppl and short walk to ammenities or over the fence ya go.... lol
I have in all the 6-7 years of camping at Highside had no concernable trouble, met some very good ppl that have extended a great deal of friendship. Meet up with them every year some of them.
