Last I checked we're still not a part of the USA ;)
Well that depends on how you look at it -

Most of our TV programs that are not locally produced are from the US, many of our own reality shows are being used under US agreement. Most of the fast food chains are from the US, we have a litigation attitude much like the US where we sue everyone for falling over, we concern ourselves with US currency even though most our export trade is other currency. Much of our military hardware is purchased from the US even though there are better systems/ suppliers out there. We were close to having a referendum so that we could go to a US style system of parliament. We are heavily influenced by them, even though we are not part of them

I thought it was a good analogy though.

And you forget to mention areas of Australia that locked to Australians , accessed only by US personel . There is even a facility in Bendigo that has a room that can be accessed only by 2 Yanks .

The Honourable Fanta Pants has done a deal with the Mining companies...

Word round the campfire is that the 2nd wave of Mining ads would've buried any chance of Labour winning the next election. KRuddmeister apparently wasn't going to give in.

As someone else here put it, other companies have done it smarter, they should have here. But i could easily predict that had they done it in a similar way here, then they would have found a way to strip the coffers like the NSW govt has effectively pulled all $ from the nsw power co's and basically removed all their pocketmoney intended for futureproffing, upgrading, and oh i don't know, building new powerplants.

Re. Rudd, damn it was a pretty impressive list of reforms he's overseen!

I've got limited knowledge of politics, but I watched his speech and I decided I like the guy and I was sorry the labour party ditched him, because I think he deserved to at least make it to an election.

Australia feels like a more humane country to live in of because he's been at the top for a couple of years and that's something I respect.

I don't expect much change.
Going by all the media I seem to be one of the few that vote based on party. I didn't vote for Kev any more than I might've voted for the Lib guy (whoever he was at the time), nor any more than I voted for my local member as an individual.
Yeah the leader does 'some' things on their own but policies are the party's.

The only real change I see is that the Libs will find it that much harder to fight next election - Abbott seems like a nervous kid with a crush (though who knows why).

As for any of the parliament chicks being doable? I think you've had longer than a month of abstinence already Firey if you think even the premier is doable

oh and tax the rich bastards - particularly seeing as recent bracket changes mean I'm even further away from the top bracket ;)
