Troops will go to Afghanistan says Ruddock

Attorney-General Philip Ruddock has signalled that Cabinet will agree to send Australian troops back to Afghanistan when it meets in Canberra this morning.
Mr Ruddock says the Federal Government is concerned about maintaining stability in Afghanistan in light of the fact that Australians have undergone terrorist training there.
Mr Ruddock confirmed Australians were among more than 10,000 people who were trained in terrorism in Afghanistan prior to the September 11 attacks in the United States.
He refused to say how many Australians were involved but said the government wanted to see stability in Afghanistan.
