Great success

Had the carbs off the bike in ten minutes flat first thing this morning. Sooooooooo much less fucking around with pod filters compared to the airbox. Even managed to keep the pod filters on the carbs throughout the entire process so I didn't have to try and refit the bastard things.

Unbelievably the float bowls were full of crap again so spent a good hour or two cleaning them out properly, this time pulling all the jets/floats etc to make sure they were as clean as a whistle.

Quick trip down to Repco got me some new fuel line and an inline filter just in-case there was crap in the tank causing it.
Put it all back together again - turned the fuel tap to prime and.... no leaks. Hurrah!

Took it for a spin and the jetting seems spot on. Wheelies like a demon now

How did you find the new brakes?

Still letting the pads bed in so have't used them in anger yet, but the difference already is like night & day. Nice and firm feel at the lever and way better stopping power.
The old 6 pots I really had to squeeze on to pull up in a hurry. I reckon I'd go over the bars if I used the same amount of force on the Nissins.

Worth every cent of the $320 it cost ($150 delivered for the brakes, $170 delivered for the brackets), especially considering they are 2013 year calipers with pads that look brand new still.

Fork brace and flipped eccentrics has done wonders for the handling also. Tips into corners much more eagerly and doesn't crash over bumps so much anymore.

Just watch your chain tension with the flipped eccentrics. If it gets too loose, it rubs on the lower rails of the swingarm. Mine has a nice pair of grooves worn into it from this.

Just got back from a long ride. Bike is running perfectly, however now that I'm using the front brakes a bit more I've noticed they are shuddering on moderate to heavy braking.
I don't think the old 6 pots were doing it, certainly not to this extent anyway.

Anyone got any bright ideas on where to start? Warped discs, adapter brackets not drilled straight, shonky steering head bearings?
Might loosen the bolts off and use the brakes a bit before tightening them back up to start with and see if that makes a difference.

Really simple to install, geez I love working on naked bikes. Fit and finish is first class, and it must be at least 10kg lighter than the standard jobby.

Couldn't be happier with the look of it. Haven't taken it for a spin yet as I need to sort the jetting, but if it goes even half as good as it looks it'll be worth every cent and then some.

Got the pipe from nicecycle.com, as they were already a good 10% cheaper than everywhere else, then got a further 10% off during the black Friday sales. Shipping was a bit more than their site estimated, but it was still only $150 so not too bad.

Pretty good service also, quick on the email replies and had it in less than 2 weeks.

Still haven't changed the jetting yet but took it for a quick spin around the block yesterday as I couldn't resist. Far out what a difference a full system makes, feels (and sounds) positively ferocious now.
