As a side note they are the big carbon contributors so is targeting the wrong people.
i agree that we need alternative power production and manufacture, and i think that will happen with shale gas. and thats def a separate issue.
but how can the volumes being manufactured not be at least equally as responsible for emissions blah blah blah of how we produced power/manufactured those volumes?
eg. carbon tax makes the latest iGadget cost more to get on the shelf, RRP rises, less joe public can afford to buy one. units sold will decrease. following production runs would be less?

Its a political ruse. Pure and simple.
the temperature for the years where there are no written records (eg 200,000 yrs ago) can be calculated from things like tree rings, arctic bubbles and bore holes. so without eyewitness reports, what more sure fire data do you want?
man you cant seriously mean the majority of the international scientific community are getting their facts wrong to help a political party?
acknowledging the existence..or not..of climate change does NOT mean agreeing with carbon tax.

i think youre right there, the weather in some places will become more 'comfortable' for a while. unfortunately global climate change isnt determined only on what the short term weather is in moree.

What a load of bullshit that graph is, 650,000 years of evidence my arse, it would not be possible to measure what happened 650,000 years ago. Speculation, opinion at best, nut evidence no farken way. Look at the last 50 years! In another 50 were all farked, going by this graph. That is some scientist imagination of what he thinks happened back then, I wonder who funded his study. This type of propaganda only harms the case for Climate change and adds weight to argument against Climate change.

So let tax 23million of the worlds 6Billion inhabitants on enviroment polution, yes it is a good idea for sure but the enviroment isnt their motive.
They cant raise the GST because afaik it cant be, they blow billions on failed schemes/policys and need to find more revenue to hide their in-competency's and to future proof funding on more stupid social policys.
Whatever

majority?? have you counted them all, we only hear of the ones supporting the tax but the others don't get a word in and it's not about helping a political party
but getting there hands on money from the goverments that run with this BS.

The measurements are done from ice core samples taken from the antarctic.Ice melts and re freezes each year down there and when a core drills down and they pull it out they can see a snap shot of what happened the previous year and so on.Back as far as they can drill.Pretty accurate as the pollution is snap frozen. Not looking for an argument here but just wanted to point out how the graph came to be.

How does anyone know wether or not the ice melted 80000 years ago ,We are seeing/hearing what the goverments want us to!

I have a cousin who was a glacierologist (geologist) for ANARE a while ago, he was involved in the ice core drilling program at Antartica, his summary to me at the time and my recolection is vaige was that warming and cooling have happend many times over the last few hundred thousand years for various reasons and has been a lot colder and a lot warmer, the earth has changed polarity a few times as well since it was formed.
We dont see an anti magnetic feild loss tax which could lead to an anti gravity tax so we all dont fall off the planet and to place every magnet we have at Santas shack, what about an tax on meteors or aliens ariving and there is more people believing in that.
Sounds silly I know, so would have a carbon tax 20 years ago.
If they were serious about reducing carbon why did they exclude fuel for vehicles from the tax, there is a huge ammount of carbon produced by vehicle emissions.
Anyway, I have been meaning to visit him since all this CT stuff has arisen, but he like many scientists they do not want to be dragged into the public debate as they only want to deal with facts not public opinion and are not into making money out of it.

Yes its all a conspiracy.
Come on ,at a bare minimum, forget about carbon tax, liberal ,labor Republican, Democrat. The ice samples tell us , even at your skeptical best that we as humans are seriously polluting the air. That part is blatantly obvious.
We can do nothing and carry on as we are and it just gets worse or we try to start on a track towards minimizing our pollution outputs. That sounds reasonable. No?
I know it needs to be China,India etc but at least get the conversation going.

You are write about us polluting the place, but there is no proff that it's causing globle warming at all.Millions have been thrown into proving it with no "real" results.Even with all the polluting we are doing would be nothing compared to the history of volcano's going off,Its "to me " a cycle of the world. Its happened before just like the opposite has happened before.

Maybe blame the oil companys for all this then and the greens for not wanting nuclier power as its the cleanest power maker.
