a gr8 fathers day left to my own devices and achieved the following;
cleaned up the engine, painted the cases, started polishing the clutch cover, cleaned up the pistons and fitted new rings. circlips and then refitted to the conrods, need a couple of o rings and ill have the block on soon.
A good way to spend some time in the sun.

Can anyone shed some light on whether transaz megaphone type muffler should have exhaust packing? Sent an email to tranzac but haven't got a reply yet.

if it is a straight-through *absorption* style muffler - the one with a central pipe with heaps of holes in it - yes it must have packing.
But if it is the old-school chamber style - where there are 2 or 3 chambers in the muffler with small tubes connecting each chamber with only a smallish outlet at the rear - it won't need packing.
