Hurrah for bike whoring!
here is a pic of the three bikes I rode this afternoon (one of course being my own)
This afternoon I went on Mick C's Long Way Home ride (minus Mick C) and when Weldo offered me a turn on the Gumby well I wasn't gonna say no! So I rode the Gumby from Tharwa to the Cotter car park, then back on the 9 over Mt MacDonald before hopping on Whickle's mighty ZRX for the run to the Coppins Crossing turn off
So far in the last two weeks I have ridden:
05 GSXR 1000 - hopped on and took off and straight away it was just comfortable and felt good. Nice power

made the slight bends between Bright and Harrietville feel like they were dead straight. Super good brakes, touched them and felt like I was going to go over the handlebars (the 9 has pretty shite brakes).
99 R1 - pretty high off the ground. Bogs down a bit down low and I stalled it taking off from the first set of traffic lights

took a bit of getting used to and I didn't really like it at first. Felt a bit rough around the edges. But after about ten minutes on board I began to quite like the roughness around the edges... it was quite fun to ride. Definitely more uncomfortable than the GSXR but definitely funner.
Gumby (not sure which year) - really really really hot on the legs! Found it a bit uncomfortable, more so than the Crim (from memory, it's been a little while since I rode the Crim). Handled the bends nicely at a very girly pace. Not the bike for me but I enjoyed riding it.
ZRX (not sure which year) - I was a little apprehensive about this, especially when I hopped on, heaved it off the side stand and didn't have my feet very firmly on the ground! The boys took off in front and then I took off, promptly up to 160 and I felt like I was sitting in an armchair facing into a wind storm

I have to say that I really enjoyed riding the Rex though - I had quite the grin in my helmet. Whickle had pulled up at the turn onto Uriarra Road and I asked to stay on the Rex for a bit more - and it felt good on Uriarra Road! Went through the bends really nicely and smoothly. Reminded me a little of my old Er-5 (but on like super steroids!!). I loved it and one day when I'm rich I think the Rex would be a great second bike... but not the bike for me right now. I can see why everyone likes them so much!
I am hoping to get a ride on a fireblade next weekend though i recalled this morning that I have previously ridden a fireblade, though it had motocross style bars on it. It was nice but I wasn't overly impressed with it enough to ever think I'd own one (that was while I still had the VTR).
I'd really like to ride a bug as well....
But I have to say, at the moment, the biggest stand out in my mind is when Disco let me ride his ZX6 a couple of months ago - I have had some big grins riding the above bikes but I think the ZX6 made me grin the most... and that was in the most atrocious conditions (wet road, windy, leaf debris everywhere

)
I should really change the title of this thread to "Mel's a Bike Whore"
