who knows atm. I had a call from the bus company who said they had lodged their claim, but i just had a call from some motorcycle assesing place to say they wanted to asses the bike on monday. so i'm hoping it's a "yup, new bike" kind of asses. But it is annoying having to take my bike back and forth especially with work too. They should have some kind of "inconvience" fee :P

as far as breaking in goes, every mechanic i have spoken to about breaking in a bike said "ride it like its stolen" best way to break it in properly is to never keep a steady pace, always move up and down in revs and such.

but to each their own.

good luck with the assessment. I say go to town on em, claim everything, time lost, mental anguish, kms travelled as a result, fuel lost. then go for a nice shiny new bike while your at it

UPDATE!

Well 5 weeks down the track and the bike still isnt fixed. Called the insurance company yesterday to find out what the fuck was going on, apparently it had all been approved they had just "forgotten" to tell me. I then had a call from the motorbike assessing place who were sent by the insurance company to say that the photo's they had taken for the claim had been "lost" and they wanted ME to take photo's and send it through to them! After telling them i was doing no such thing, i was told that when i take the bike in to get repaired then they would go out and take the photo's themselves, which i thought was reasonable. I have booked my P's a few weeks ago for the 16 March, so i rang the mechanics to see how long it would take to get all the parts in, could take anywhere up to 8 weeks (FUCK!)! The lady i spoke to from the insurance company was a real b***h to say the least, i told her that i needed my bike for the test and i needed to practice so i would need a bike to do so in the meantime, her suggestion was to hire one for the test, but i'd have nothing to practice on. I COULD use my bike, but it needs the 1000k service done and i've already been back an forth from the mechanics and good 4 times and i don't really want to go over there and have the service then bring it back when the indicator is still borken, and then take it back again to have all teh damage repaired. I strongly vented my frustration tot he insurance lady about:

1) not being contacted about ANYTHING for 5 weeks
2) Having to go back and forth to the mechanics
3) The photo's being "lost"
4) Missing a day of work because the assesser HAD to come a certain day otherwise i would have had to wait a couple weeks
5) Not being able to ride the bike because they suggested it would not be a good idea
6) The bike isnt going to be fixed for my P's test
7) I won't be paid for taking the bike back and forth to the mechanic aswell as the cars so i could get home

That's all i can think of at the moment, but at one stage whilst i was complaining, the lady said "isnt it just a scooter" which just tipped me straight over the edge, no it's not just a scooter, it's a BRAND NEW 7 thousand dollar motorbike which was only a month old before being hit! I've ridden it around since i got the quote (why friggin wouldnt i, it's only been 5 fing weeks), and she said that "the assessor told me you'd been riding it" what does she want me to do? WALK to work?

SO after several days of communication i have been that i can get all the work done which will make the bike road worthy for my test, but WHO knows if i'll even have the bike for that considering the parts will take so long due to back-order etc.

Not to mention that all my mods which were supposed to be done early january still hasnt been able to be done ebcause of this incident.

I AM ANNOYED!!

Get an individual assesment...... you are well within your rights then get the quotes compared...... kick up the biggest stink ever about the whole thing...... demand that the farkers give you a replacement untill the bike is repaired & when I say repaired.... it was a new bike so you want all new parts & all repairs will be assessed by you & your assessor that it is 100% perfect or they will be doing it again!

I had a near new bike that was looking close to being a write after being pushed across 2 lanes & having a big stack, so my mechanic asked the question ...... do you want to keep her?...I said NO! they took care of the rest ;)
