I think most of the stuff you are looking for is already here - its just not on one page. All forums require a degree of 'navigation' in order to find particular items, this place is no different.
Under the 'Rides' section for example, is a thread called 'Regular Sydney Rides' - it is fairly long, but if any new members wanted to know what was happening, its always only the last page or 2 of the thread that needs to be read. The lastest posts always have the current information on them - Sydney rides in particular are pretty much set in concrete - northsiders do the OPH on Sunday morning, and southsiders do the Nasho - meeting places and times don't vary much either, just the number of smiling faces that turn up.....
It always takes a bit of time to familiarise with a new site, and in the process new members could unearth all sorts of interesting threads and topics....

- some of which are full of verbal diahorea
I have a good mate who lives in Singleton, when you move there let me know, he rides a 1200 Bandit. Loves the Putty !!

I agree with all you say, But, (don’t ya just hate buts) The tread is about a member drive, and keeping focused on that, I was just thinking of modern internet advertising rules,
"If a web page does not capture the attention of a potential client in four seconds or less, the web page is poorly designed and doomed to fail." Now I know this is not a commercial web site, but that does not mean that the same rules do not apply. This is why the suggestion of the static page that some caring member gets editing rights to and keeps it updated. Then, a new member goes to the new member section, gets his/her welcome, forum ambitions and some suggestions on getting the best out of the forum and regular events that might be of interest, then he/her knows whether or not it is worth investing his/her valuable time in registering and adding it to his/her favourites.
If this site is as good as you/we think it is, then let’s explain it, hopefully in under four seconds.
I met my girl and then we had sex, and because it was the best four seconds of her life, she is still with me. (I can do it even quicker know, But stuff her, I’m to old to rush things now) ((Read:
It now takes me all night to do what I used to do all night.))

I wonder whether we are actually losing members. I mean there used to be regulars who post all the time like duane, irishmale, blackzx6r,diesel etc. why ... I even had not heard of mrMina for a long time !
I too find it the site is harder to navigate than the old one but this topic has been done to death so I'll move on
may also explain why there's too few group rides too !

yea true... that being said Blackzx6r,Mina and Duane still pop up occasionally.... and often frequent GP or SBK or other social events... its evolution i guess... we pick sum up, we lose sum...the core group stay...often the members who dont post anymore still are a part of the group, cos round here u make freinds that u may have for ever??

Upon moving back from Perth to Melbourne in early 05, it was a need to dig up riding buddies which eventually led me to this site. I was googling for rides or something and up popped a link to a thread. As I was keen to find some rides, I registered straight away, not really worrying about the website look or other features. I think the forum and site are fine and do a good job. I just think we are not that pro-active in general, in driving members. I know a few other clubs, all be it not internet based, which are HC member scavengers!!!!

They are a little more organised than us though in terms of getting together. So this style is most likely not going to benefit us. But the reason they attract members, is that they actually ride!!!!

Yep, sick I know as it sounds, they put kilometres on their bikes!
Now I know that in Sydney they have a regular Sunday run, both in the south side and the North side. But realistically, that is a core group of "riders" and they would most likely be there regardless of the internet forum or not!
Here in Vic, the involvment ebbs and flows. Some are active socially within KSRC and others more electronically. Neither ride much, once again apart from a small HCC!
As a member of another club, not internet based, which rides every Sunday rain hail or shine, as well as weekends/week long tours. It is a small club with membership listed in three figures not starting with anything more than a 3! But I do notice a larger join up rate. (they also have a larger rejection rate too...ie- do one ride with the club and not seen again

) But riding seems to attract people!
Anyhoo, Pm and I did a little bit yesterday to add to the Member list, and Brad on his neat Sprint registered when he got home. Thanks to Mike who had a sticker with the web Addy handy as no one had any writing equipment!!!

Well, maybe if you want to collect more members, some troops could be rallied to go to the Silverwater Bike show. I believe club stands are free, and score 5 passes to said bike show as well.
Think its in Feb sometime, its in the what's on section of Cycle Torque.

Team,
Dunno about Irishmale or diesel however,
Myself - Had a stack, built a house. having a break until I get another bike. Also getting married in 12 days btw
Rob - I still see rob occasionally, and Believe he's taken a break from riding
Mina - Sold his bike to a Qlder from memory? Running a business.

Any thoughts on how to attract new members.?
Theres lots of ppl out there but they either can't find us or don't join.
We are not a .com.au site so we are missing out on a lot of ppl who do search's using the Aus site options.
If you are on another site, please let ppl know about us. We don't want to spam other sites but letting ppl know about things going on here may help, like the photo comp, the track day, tech info, for sales and similar stuff. If you see a post on another site that ppl on KSRC can help with, let them know about us.
Put a link to KSRC in your sig perhaps.
and if anyone wants stickers to give out or put in shops, send me a PM with your address..
I remember someone pulling up next to me in a car just before the ANZAC bridge heading into the city and passing me a sticker to put on the 6
So what is happening about getting new members?

Hey,
I'm a new member! Spend most of my time reading the forums and trying to figure out what's what and who's who.
Would really like to meet up with a few members at some stage. I've seen on the forum something about a weekly meeting at Windsor and been comtemplating going along at some stage.
What are these stickers people are talking about??
Is it worth contacting the webmasters of the Kawasaki dealer websites around the country and doing an affiliates / sponser / link exchange? Just a thought.
Have a great evening!
Cheers,
Wayne
