Sounds like a top idea. I wonder how many millions of hours in lost productivity that would cost the nation.
Smoking is a personal pursuit and not something people are paid to do. You wanna smoke, do it in your own time. If you have an agreement with your employer to take a break for 5 minutes every hour, then good for you, do it then.
I don't have a problem with people chosing to smoke, I don't have a problem with people doing it at work if their boss lets them. I do have a problem with people thinking it's their god given right to smoke whenever the fuck they feel like it at work. If I was an employer and you kept taking smoko breaks, you'd be finding another job.

smoking during the day at work... meh doesnt bother me... being a past smoker I did... now that I dont smoke I don't mind that the guys here do as long as they take their headsets and phones with them so they can still answer phones...
As for Mobiles in Cars.... it doesnt really matter how much we whinge and bitch about it and what laws are in place - people are still gunna do it... everyone knows the statistics and dangers yet everyone still does it... Just the same as every single one of us knows the statistics and dangers behind speeding - and I am sure not one of you can say you NEVER speed...
Using a mobile phone while driving can be a health hazard for yourself and other people on the road - most definitely - but so can lighting a cigarette when your window is down causing you to have to cup the lighter and smoke end with both hands and hold the wheel with your knee or elbows.... Winding the window up on an old shitty car where it gets stuck half way and you have to reach over and yank it up with your other hand... tryin to find your favour CD in the CD folder... grabbing money out for the Tolls... Changing Radio stations coz the Morning Shows shit you to tears and you forgot your CD folder... scratching your ankle OR pulling out a wedgie... we gunna wack a 3 month licence ban on all the above as well???
Laws can be put into place to try and curve the incidents of this happening - but unfortunately you cannot take the foolishness out of people's heads so matter what laws are passed it will continue to happen and idiots will always be idiots...

I am lucky where i am, the only smokers in my area are myself and the GM.
Don't often get a lunch break, some time very long hours so i take a smoke break when ever i like besides most of the time i am on the mobile ect

Thats Jas you are right, to a degree. Some people i know are the biggest bunch of slack asses that should get the boot, 30min smoke breakes and they only walk out the door

Yeah i agree ... it just annoys me when ppl get up on a soapbox whingeing about people taking smoko breaks, when it isn't their call about whether someone should or shouldn't take that break. Sure if it directly or somewhat indirectly affects your ability to work, then take it up with the employer. But people who are sad sooks who think that other people get breaks and they don't should harden upaardvark wrote:stevew_zzr wrote:If you really don't like smokers having 'smoko' breaks ... just go outside and take a break yourself!

If the employer sets reasonable boundaries and doesn't discriminate against smokers or non-smokers it's all good in my books (sadly it's not yet legal to disadvantage ppl who smoke).
For the record, i've never smoked in my entire life. Never even held a lit cigarette !

easy if they didn't make such ridiculous rules (me walking for 15min to have a 5 min smoko), i'd be at my desk more quickerMiG wrote:How the fuck do you figure that?mrmina wrote: So i told them its my choice to smoke and i'm entitled to a smoko when i want and if that 20min downtime is to happen once every 1 or 1.5 hours then its their bad luck.
