Except for braking, sure it takes a bit longer to stop but the point is you prepare _earlier_ to stop."

Did I misconstrue something here???
If it takes longer to stop and you have to prepare earlier (which is what I said ANYWAY) it is hardly "the opposite" it is the same as what I said ie. the braking is WORSE
From what you have added I take it you think the braking of a bike is BETTER with a pillion.????
R U sure this it the message you are trying to get across to someone who may never have done it
Maybe I misunderstood what you meant to say ??? :?

As to knee dragging with a pillion, would love to but my legs just aint long enough unless I hang off like a monkey, does grinding pegs count ???

And at 55kg I dont doubt you wouldnt have to adjust the preload. Damn I think I have worn backpacks wighed that much (jokes)

Yeah he posted the pic Neka, it was DAMN sweet.

Just worried that someone who doesnt know better thinks bikes brake better with a pillion?
I mean I take his point that you have to brake earlier, but that only agreed with what i had said, not "the opposite".
I would think from the pics and comments that he knows what hes doing, that was never in question....

i think he finds riding two up easier than riding one up..
i think thats what his comment "just the opposite" was for...not so much for the smoother riding required, or earlier braking..i think he just likes it that way....

then again hes a poof too so maybe he just likes the feel of a guys package in his back??

in a nutshell, frog, yes it takes longer to stop, and maybe, i'll emphasise the maybe here, the handling might not be as sharp as when riding solo but.. yes, there is always a but in everything.. but like everything, there are ways around the handling issue, it doesnt happen overnight.. i was seeing some negativity from the things i was reading in people's posts and i certainly dont see anything bad about taking somebody on the back at all so i decided to put in my two cents.. done right, it can be a lot of fun for all concerned.. even more so when youre cleaning up everyone else..

anyway, i'll be posting a vid up sometime later this year...

Had my first pillion on the back of the 6r and was amazed how well it handled .
Only ever had someone on the back of me ol gpx before.
The extra weight of the bike makes hell of a difference.
Only prob is with the extra seat height and me only being short, she has to lean quite a bit forward to grab around me. That and my short legs see me right up near the tank.
So she either squeezes in on the main seat behind me or sits on the pillion seat and hunches. She did try using the grab rails but I really dont like the feel of that unless we're at speed.
I can feel her slip back a bit on acceleration and get worried shes gonna come off. Even though when she was using them I took off like an old granny.

Being a caring guy that I am I picked up a pillion belt. The one with the handles on the side. Haven't tested it yet but I think it will allow her to sit more upright and me to know she's holding on when we get moving.
Time will tell I guess.

Me personally I like having a bird on the back and love having her thighs squishing me as we ride.
Here I was thinking it was a bonus of pillioning

I did reach around behind the GF the other day to have a grab of her arse at the lights. I pointed the car behind us out to her as the guy in the car was poking his missus to have a quick look at what I was up to.
Ah the joy, being on a bike and being able to play a game of grab ass.
What could be better.

true, the extra weight helps with the damping and smooths out a fair bit of stuff, the rear shock does need to be adjusted a bit to cope with the additional forces.

maybe she needs to lean forward a bit as you accelerate? and sort of wedge the insides of her boots/calves on the sides of the ducktail? having a hand (or both) on the tank will help her to balance herself a bit better.

i do that all the time. :D

Hey Dave. I keep looking at those pics cos your bike was the same as mine to see how to really ride the thing. I'm not keen to take pillions but good to see decent riding.
