The 06 needs a little more clutch slipping to launch than the 04 (both standard gearing)
The 06 is quieter than my 04 - maybe needs more time for the rattles to start? lol
The 04 definitely feels a little stronger on the bottom end
The 06 does feel a little more planted mid corner (effect of damper? or altered geometry) but is definitely not as sharp on its steering
It appears that as grippy as the new qualifiers are, these bloody dunlops (as fittted to the 06) will cause slight oscilations on the bars when your hands are taken off. Whilst nowhere near as bad as the 218 rubbish on the 04 (that shook like mad) these tyres are only 1000k old. Pilots solved this on my 04....
We both agree that the new instument cluster is no easier to read in daylight then the older digital tach, slightly better at night though
The more forward position of the 06 pegs works better for craigs short legs, I find it a little cramped compared to the 04
The 06 headlights so far seem to do better job of illuminating the road at night - but something as harmless as a mount cootha night ride shows both the 10's to have poopoo headlights
Finding somewhere to compare the upper strengths of the engines will have to wait, though the 06 does power wheelie as easy as the 04.
The 06 and its new master brake cylinder (front) is an enourmous improvement over the long travel, spongyness of the 04's unit.
They look very different, but the changes on the 06 are not that huge once you ride them back to back - though you are definitely perched higher on the 04, and the rear seat cowl on the 06 looks a whole lot better than the weirdass thing on my 04.
Will take some pics of our pride n toys when its back from the stealership
