According to my instructer they have to be slow, apparantly you shouldnt use 2nd gear because ya cant use the clutch properly and using the back brake is cheating and the tester might fail you on that.

HELL YEAh!!! That sucks.... every experienced rider will tell you to use the back brake when doing a figure 8 at slow speed!
In fact, grab a copy of the TAC video and it says it on there!@!!... What kind of stupid moron said that...
In any case....
at the end of the day it is all bum-on-seat experience that you need.... Take your 250 to a carpark, take chalk, do figure 8 for 3 hours....
