They use the more conservative DIN correction factor, but the relative figures are telling.

Yep, you got that one right. All the US magazines never give honest reviews either, I guess they figure in the advertising they lose factor. :o

not much point comparing different dyno figures recorded on different days (was it even the same dyno?)

plenty of reviewers get around 125-130rwhp for stock ZX9R's, such as this or this or this. Also the 1/4 mile figures here, regardless of optimistic ET's, show ZX9R trap speeds to be fairly consistant mid/high 130's, but the Z1000 trapping in the mid 120's... and also being about 30lbs heavier for wet weight

last night i ran an 11.1 @ 122mph

a zx10 ther did a few 10.2's with akro pipe and lowered and geariing changes.

wattie, can you post up your time slip? or just the details, like 60', r/t, 1/8 mile time/speed etc

mate ran a 10.4 on his bussa while I could only compete with a modest 10.6 @ 135mph (or was it 134?!). Did crap times after that. dont think weighing in at 110 kilos helped my cause... but next time at 95, the front was too light, keeping me consistant in the 11.0XX @ 130.X mph

Funny part there was my 60' time was 2.000 seconds. While the other runs I had at 10.8 were 1.8 60' times... the 10R is to eager to lift...

The zx9 was the first production bike that broke the 10 second 1/4 mile (if memory serves me right) stock...

It all depends on the rider, temp, air desity, fuel... hmmm... quite a few factors come to think of it...

the 9 is no 9 second production bike IMO. it doesnt count if you strap it down, lower the rear and get about 3 runs to a clutch. that just american magazines for ya

yeah ive seen em, and ive heard plenty about sportrider strapping/lowering bikes and burning out clutches to get those times...

to me its just cheating to run the bike down the 1/4 in a setup thats far from ideal on the road, unless its a dedicated drag bike

10.2 @ 145mph sounds more likely (for a ZX10R not a ZX9R) with a track/road setup


tho i know a guy who ran 9.98 @ 144mph on his bone stock 04 R1 on a stinking hot day.. but hes pretty light and can ride damn well
